When I first started walking down the path of dance music I was still searching for something to keep me grounded in what I grew up with. I was searching for an artist to bridge the gap between the hip hop/DJ[Turntablist] culture that was always present in daily life[while growing up] and the ever growing 4 on the floor that was becoming more present each day. After spending many early morning/late night hours digital crate digging I discovered Jack Beats.
I couldn't believe it when I found out who was in Jack Beats. Two master turntablists from the other side of the pond, Beni G of Mixologists and Plus One of Scratch Perverts. Growing up watching battle videos from DMC I saw a few of their routines and was aware of their presence in the UK. Invisibl Skratch Piklz ruled supreme here in California and on the West Coast but the Mixologists and Scratch Perverts owned the UK.
And now these two vinyl wizards[they've recently switched to CDjs due to accidents on stage from speakers falling on their turntables] are coming here to do a round of shows across the continent. I've seen them perform three times and each time it was something different but equally amazing. My favorite would have to be at Hard 13 2010. ...I wonder what kind of madness they'll bring to Coachella.
