Infrasonics - Volume 9

Reso – Valken EP [Purchase: Civil Music store (Vinyl, MP3, FLAC) | Beatport (M4A, MP3, WAV)]

Reso - Valken EP Preview (CIV017 OUT FEB2011 12"/DWNLD) by Reso

The long awaited release of this massive EP is finally here! It's been over a year since Reso's last major release on Civil Music with the Temjin EP which contained "Otacon" and "Armored Core", two very massive dubstep bangers (listen here if you haven't heard it yet!). The artwork for this EP is just as huge as the tracks that are contained in this release and just as awesome as the artwork for Temjin EP (it's so awesome, I had to post it up just to get your attention!).

War Machine is the first track off this EP and it's been featured on Excision's Shambhala 2010 mix and in the December issuse of CM Magazine under the "Dubstep vs. Drum & Bass" production feature and it's a huge drumstep banger that I'm definitely sure will be played by many of the top drum & bass and dubstep DJs in the upcoming months. "Aethra", the second track off this EP, is a more deep and mellowed out dubstep track that fans of artists like Pinch, Distance, and Burial will be sure to enjoy. The third track on this EP, "Expansion Ratio", is a more wonky sounding dubstep track with sick bass drops that is reminiscent of "Channel Pressure" off his last EP. The digital exclusive track "Syndicate" is a huge neurofunk drum & bass track that fans of Noisia and Phace will be sure to enjoy. This track is NOT on the 12" vinyl, so if you pick up the 12", either buy it at the Civil Music store bundled with the FLAC download or buy it on Beatport!

As you can see, this whole EP is extremely diverse and fans of the bass and beats scenes will be sure to find something in this EP that they will immediate love.

Pick this up at the Civil Music store in 12" vinyl (£7.99 or about $13 USD; free MP3 or FLAC download with purchase), MP3, or FLAC, or at Beatport (currently exclusive) in 192kbps M4a (don't know why you'd even consider purchasing tracks from Beatport in a format you can get at the iTunes store), 320kbps CBR Mp3, or 1411kbps uncompressed WAV.

Need For Mirrors – Pitchfork / Type 4 [Official release date: March 14, 2011]

Need For Mirrors - Type 4 by ShogunAudio

Here are two very huge drum and bass tracks from UK drum & bass producers Need For Mirrors. These guys have a very minimal and atmospheric vibe that just bring out the deep sub bass in their tracks . I first heard of these guys when a few of their tracks were featured on Zero T's Fabriclive 52.

"Pitchfork" has a minimalistic drum sound with a fat bass drop that makes you just feel like you're falling into an ambient abyss. "Type 4" is probably my favorite track on this release because the drop on this track is just massive. This track has huge drum sounds and during the build up when you hear the neurofunk bassline coming in, that's when you know the drop's just going to be huge, and when that bassline drops with the sub, it delivers.

This release going to be out on Shogun Audio on March 14, 2011, so keep any eye out for it!

Icicle – Dreadnaught (feat. SP:MC) / Arrows [Official release date: February 28, 2011]

As I was browsing around Shogun Audio's Soundcloud (that's how I found out about the Need For Mirrors release), I stumbled across this huge release by Dutch dubstep and drum & bass producer Icicle (check out the "Dubstep vs. Drum & Bass" feature in the December issue of CM Magazine, the same one that Reso was featured in).

"Dreadnaught" features SP:MC's vocals and the music video for this track is pretty sick (see above). But what really makes this track is the huge drop that comes after the intro build up. The drums are fat, the drum fills are excellently placed, and the effect stab that comes in every 4 bars compliments the huge sub bassline. "Arrows" follows suit with the huge sub basslines, a sample of what sounds like a shamisen (Japanese 3-stringed musical instrument), and the sound of arrows being shot from a bow from every direction.

The vinyl for this release is available for pre-order on the Shogun Audio site and the official release date for the vinyl as well as the digital release is February 28, 2011.

Diplo, Tiësto, Busta Rhymes – C'Mon (Jakwob Remix) [Purchase: Beatport]

I came across this track on Beatport and unfortunately for me, it's territory restricted. But nonetheless, I'm really dig this remix by Jakwob. It's got a breaks feel as well as dubstep sections in this track. My favorite part of this remix is the dubstep sections because the bassline has a deep sub bass and a darker wobble, plus the vocals by Busta Rhymes is an interesting twist to this track. If you haven't heard the original, it's definitely worth checking out if you're into electro house (check it out here!). And Jakwob, if you're reading this, please play this remix and your remix of Ellie Goulding's "Starry Eyed" at Beyond Wonderland next month! I would love to hear this on huge speakers and I'm sure that this track could get the crowd off their feet.

Have a great week! Enjoy!
