Cypress Hill SmokeOut Festival 2012 [Concert Review]
SmokeOut festival a full day of celebrating music and that magical herb that cures all ailments. This was my first trip to the festival but not to the NOS center so I already expected the traffic which gave me the perfect opportunity to mentally prepare for the event. What i didn't expect was the ease of finding parking and effecientcy at the gate that led to the Buddah Garden. I was in line for about 5 minutes before I knew it I was inside the garden surrounded by an eclectic crowd of smokers sitting in hammocks, couches, and lawn chairs rolling and packing various devices. After spending some time in the smokers paradise trading pleasantries I made my way into the festival. I was pretty late and missed alot of the acts i wanted to see like Mobb Deep Fashawn and Currency but I was still excited to see Daedelus and Korn.

Daedelus - LessThan3 Heartbeat Guest Mix 020 [Mix + Tour Dates]
Daedelus : Official | Facebook | Twitter - LessThan3 : Official
[via] Readers/listeners/supporters of Dank Radio are no stranger to the fact that we love and respect the music of mr. dandy himself, Daedelus. When confronted of social interactions that require decisions of tact I always think to myself, "What would Daedelus do?" He's a local Los Angeles native that's sculpted the various influences of life and music from our greater city and created his own marble musical masterpiece. His most recent album, Bespoke [purchase @ NinjaTune | iTunes] contained many tracks that we played on air during our shows. With a musical mindset and understanding of creative crowd control he's taken some of his most recent favorites and done a very special mix for the music lovers over at LessThan3. You can download the mix by right clicking here and click 'save as'. Scroll down below for the full tracklist. Enjoy!

J Dilla - Dreamy
J Dilla : Official | Facebook | The J Dilla Foundation : Official | Facebook
As we have now been officially ushered into the Age of Aquarius, the very first step in this long adventurous journey will begin with the month of February. Every February we celebrate the life + music + love of J Dilla with our annual Dillathon broadcast on KPFK 90.7FM. Through the watchful eye of our fallen musicians stars have aligned and paths have crossed between the J Dilla Foundation and ourselves. The result has culminated in the Featured Interview w/ Ma Dukes by Eccentric. In addition to the featured interview we have extended the Flip It For Dilla tribute contest to last until our February 18th Dank Radio broadcast with in-studio guest The Internet (Syd Tha Kyd & Matt Martians of Odd Future). So please take your time and make your music right before sending it our way. In addition to having your music heard on FM Airwaves across the ether we will also be doing a mini feature artist interview with the winner. Our annual Dillathon will broadcast LIVE this Saturday February 4th from 4am-6am [PST] on KPFK 90.7FM LA and throughout the world at kpfk.org. We will have a special LIVE in-studio DJ set by J-logic along with other goodies from the likes of Z, Daedelus, and others.

Coachella Cornucopia I - Madeon [Tour Dates]

Madeon : Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud
Now that we have the full line up for this years Coachella, the fun activity of learning about each performer begins. There are a little over 120 artists this year and a little under 90 something days until the festivities begin in Indio, California. I'd like to think I'm familiar with about a third of the line up so this will not only help me explore new musical realms, but it'll help you get familiar as well. I'll try my best to keep this daily. There's a lot of madness between now and April so forgive me if I miss a day or two. Let's begin...

Expansion Volume 5: Nosaj Thing + TOKiMONSTA [Ticket Giveaway + Set Times]

Expansion : Official | Facebook | Twitter | Tickets
There has been a movement of music, art, and all things expressive growing at the Humming Bird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley. Most of us in the relative LA/OC/LB area never really venture much north of Hollywood for our adventures into music. But lately in the past few months the likes of Daedelus, Free The Robots, DJ Craze, Flinch, LDFD, and more have given us reason to expand our musical horizon into the more northern regions. Tonight we continue this experience with musical performances by Nosaj Thing and TOKiMONSTA. With the continued support from Project Sweatshop + The Service Company we have a pair of tickets to giveaway for tonight's festivities. Please comment this post with your full name and e-mail address to enter to win. Winners will be announced on our Facebook page and an e-mail notification will be sent. You have until 5pm to enter.

Infrasonics - Volume 8
Antiserum - The Swarm EP [Purchase: Beatport]
I'm a big fan of anything Rottun Recordings releases, so this one's a treat. Fans of Datsik, Excision, Downlink, and basically anyone who's ever released anything on EX7 or Rottun will enjoy this release.
Danny Byrd - Tonight (feat. Netsky) [Purchase: Juno | Beatport ]
Huge drum and bass banger from an awesome collaboration between Hospital Records artists Danny Byrd and Netsky. I don't know if it's because I'm a sucker for catchy hooks (who isn't?), but this is definitely one I enjoy a lot. It has a very feel good vibe to it and the music video's also pretty damn entertaining. My favorite remix off this release is definitely Cutline's drumstep remix; I just love the beat and the twist that they put on the vocal hook. I think after just a couple listens, you'll be singing along with the chorus and humming that melody.

Baths - Amoeba Records Live In-Store Performance [Free Concert]
Baths [Anticon] : Official | Facebook | Twitter
We introduced you all to Baths in June of last year with a remix by the always elegant and always humble Daedelus. I would be lying if I said I've experienced his unique sounds first hand, I haven't. But today you all have a chance to. While I'm plugged into the matrix in the land of the cubicles you can make the drive up to Amoeba Records to watch him perform at 7pm. And if you too are stuck plugged into your job like me, you'll have the opportunity to watch him perform at The Troubadour on March 5th[Awesome venue].
