Our resident infrasonics master of all things bass has been feeling Kendrick Lamar's Swimming Pools (Drank) lately. So much so that he decided to do his own edit to fit his sets even more so. I first encountered a Will Bailey track during a Jack Beats mix I played non-stop a couple years ago. I lost track of what he was up to and some of the local DJs gave me a heads up that he's still crankin' out tunes and in fact he recently just moved out to LA. Below is one of said tunes that he dishes out with regularity on his Soundcloud page. He's begun to explore genres out side of his usual sonic scope of house and it's a fun change of pace. His track with Dskotek titled "Saxon" is a fun addition to any DJ's 100-110 bpm range.

Gold Panda has been in my regular [casual listening|DJ set] rotations ever since I heard his track You. I really enjoyed how he changed gears from his beat heavy orientation on Lucky Shiner to that of his more exploratory vibe on his latest release Companion [Purchase @ iTunes | Amazon]. I'm not saying one direction outweighs the other, but rather the openness and ability for him to say "f(*)ck it. i'm going to do what i want and you're still going to like it" is awesome. Our friends Vincent and Jochen from Sound of Stereo are gearing up for their upcoming release titled, Hurricane EP. Discovered Ms. Rai Knight a while back on Pigeons and Planes and her song "New New" instantly became one of my favorites. It was in constant rotation and we even played it a few times on Dank Radio. I was starting to wonder what happened to her but I somehow stumbled onto her twitter page and tweeted her a quick hello. It turns out she's been cranking out some tunes for an upcoming mixtape that's set for release in March. While we wait for her upcoming release to drop you can enjoy the track below titled, Mr. Postman [feat Oseeola . produced by Blunkstreet Music]. Oh, I almost forgot... we're going to be doing a feature interview with her soon so if you have any questions for Rai let us know in the comments section.
Bart van der Meer, otherwise known as Bart B More, has presented us with an hours worth of fun tunes perfect for practicing your dance moves in your bedroom, or driving around from here to there. He is the creator of the dance floor smashers Brap, Listen To This(created with Harvard Bass), and one of my more recent favorites, Zombie Nation - Squeek (Bart B More Remix). And along with Avicii, Afrojack, and Sonic C, he perfected his craft through Laidback Luke's online forum[great resource]. He has quite a few dates around the US so if you're one of the lucky ones living in a town where he's performing, just go. You'll be happy you did.
It was a delightful surprise for me to find the majority of his mix comprised of Dubstep tunes. When you really sit down and listen to Porter Robinson's tracks Say My Name or I'm On Fire you can hear the influence of Dubstep in his synth tones. All in all the mix is a high energy sample of what you can expect to hear on his upcoming US Tour.
I was starting to wonder if Mark had phased out his alter ego Spazzkid for good. In recent conversations he's explained that his main focus has been My Parasol. With music as soothing as My Parasol I couldn't complain, but I missed his Spazzkid expressions. I've been bugging him every so often for any updates and finally the month I didn't pester him my wishes were granted...

One could say it's because our schedules don't always match up or maybe it's that money isn't as available for shows of our favorite artists these days as it once was[ticket prices have gone up over the years haven't they]. Whatever the reason may be it was a fun trip down to No Doubt's backyard to watch our favorite Pharmaceutical Bandits rock the House Of Blues Anaheim stage right next to the "happiest place on earth".

I would attempt to describe Diplo's remix of Sleigh Bell's track Tell Em but the man himself has taken the liberty to express in great detail how the song came to be...

Was running late for work again this morning and I was trying to find a 6 min. track to play while I got my things in order. Good thing I was logged onto facebook when I saw Jack Beats post this FREE mini mix they did for Mixmag. All you have to do is click on the image on their facebook page and it'll automatically download.
There are lots of things to take into consideration when planning/performing a mix. There's song selection with familiar vs new tracks. You have to pace the vibe and flow of intensity to create a whole musical journey for the listener. To take things to an advance level you can even mix in key and progress all the songs in ascending or descending order. Somehow the Jack Beats managed to do all of this in 5 min and 24 seconds. G1ockz gave me the heads up about a week or so ago about this dude on Warp who sounds like HudMo but with more of an emphasis on crazy guitar solos and even crazier synth lines. I honestly didn't think it was possible. But then again, everything in this life cycle is possible.
So we pulled up his page on the Warp website and the first thing I see is this piece of album artwork that just jumps out at me. I thought it was something straight out of a Thundercats episode or some other cartoon tv show or video game from the 80s that G1ockz would of then proceeded to tell me about. If you're looking for groovy head bangin' hands in the air party with your good times until the sun rises and falls on repeat, get the EP. And if that's not enough to convince you Rustie still DJs w/ tables and he's even mixed his EP for your previewing pleasure...
And to further illustrate the awesomeness of this EP is the visual aid below staring Steve Martin and John Candy. I'm pretty sure this isn't the official video for Hyperthrust but they should use the same movie clips. Come to think of it that car spinning part reminds me of a crazy car crash story G1ockz told us about. And John Candy's dance moves look like something I did while i was watching Rusko at Abstract Fest last year.
I just love when I check my email when I'm running late for work and find music waiting for me to explore. It's kind of a blessing and a curse. The iPhone maybe a multipurpose device but it doesn't exactly allow me to download & unzip .zip files containing fun filled tracks. Any hoo fast forward another cubicle day and I finally get to listen to the music waiting for me in my inbox.

So here’s another week of Infrasonics from me, fabricated. Before I start sharing some of my weekly picks, I’d like to start with a video that I found very amusing. I am a huge fan of 1000 Ways To Die on Spike, so seeing this made me laugh. It’s basically death by too much infrasonic waves, which are really low frequency waves that most humans can’t hear. If you’re a little squeamish, then you might want to skip over this.
Anyways, I digress; now, onto my weekly picks.
Delorean - Real Love [Purchase @ Juno | Bleep] My girlfriend showed me this track while I was studying for a test I had today for my philosophy class and I just thought I’d share it because I really enjoyed it and I’d love to use this in a mix or set sometime soon.
Katy B - Louder [Purchase @ Juno] I remember hearing this song for the first time and not really getting into it, but the more I listened to it more and eventually it grew on me. Katy B’s vocals and the UK funky beat behind it gets me excited for the evening whenever I listen to it driving at night. This track was produced by DJ Zinc and the other track on this release, Katy On A Mission, which was produced by Benga, is definitely a dubstep banger.
Feed Me - Cloudburn (feat. Tasha Baxter) [Purchase @ Beatport] Feed Me aka Spor never disappoints me. Anything on mau5trap recordings also never really disappoints me either. The drop is pretty dark and heavy and the chorus hook will definitely grab your attention. If you like anything along the lines of Skrillex, Datsik, Excision, or one of the many heavy dubstep producers that have been up and coming recently, you’ll probably like this.
Starkey - Fourth Dimension [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno | Bleep] This track Philadelphia based dubstep and electronica producer Starkey was definitely one of the surprise tracks I found while finding tracks to play on the Dank Radio New Year’s show. I definitely did not expect the first drop in this track, especially with that few seconds of silence right before. I highly suggest checking out the rest of Starkey’s album Ear Drums And Black Holes.
