Good Foot Christmas 2012 @ Alex's Bar 12/25/12 [Live Video]

A Good Foot Christmas 2012 @ Alex's Bar 12/25/12 | Video by: Magic Milk

I watch quite a bit of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations + The Layover and wonder at times where I'd take Anthony in Long Beach to get drunk and have a good time. He always seems to end up at random cities on "holidays" so I figure if he were in Long Beach on Christmas night I'd take him to Good Foot Christmas. For the non-locals and non-versed in LA Funk events, Good Foot was a 13(?) year running monthly here in Long Beach at Que Sera that was put on by Dennis Owens of Free Moral Agents. To my knowledge it was the longest running party in Long Beach. They started it back in the day before the internet and social media so it was quite a bit of work to get 100 to 200 plus people dancing to the best .45 vinyl selections of Funk music in a grimmey dive bar in Long Beach. The monthly may have closed shop, but Dennis brings back the event for select celebrations, such as Christmas. It's one of those Cheers moments when all the locals come out and just drink, dance, frolic, and fornicate. Eccentric met another local and she sent us this video they created. See you next Christmas on the dance floor...

Goldenvoice & La Nuit Present: Disclosure + Samo Sound Boy @ El Rey Theatre 10/31/12 [Concert Review + Tour Dates]

For about a year or so we've been supporting the brothers Disclosure. We've spun their tracks on Dank Radio + blogged about their tours & releases. Basically spread the word about their amazing music to anyone who would listen. It was only a matter of time before they made their way across the pond to spread their sexxxi UK Garage // Deep House sounds to the Los Angeles region. My brother Eccentric and I secured access to their sold out show [Many thanks to Jay + the whole Disclosure team for their hospitality] and made our way up to LA on Halloween.

Eccentric Revelation: Artwork of Wake Up! by Z

Official: Z

One year ago TODAY marks the birth of BEATMASTER's [e]ccentricity. The 'Wake Up' album artwork is a visual response to the frequencies of the powerful tune created by the interstellar multi-instrumentalists known as Z. Inspired by the Legend of the Sun, the design's imagery and palette showcases our most sacred source of light and energy. Exhibiting my roots to the Philippine Islands, the 8 Sun rays represent the first 8 provinces of the Philippines that first revolted against Spain sparking Revolution and Independence. The 6 repetitions of Wake Up! represent the balance and connectivity between the world and the universe. In between both 6 and 8 is the [e]ye of the Sun which forms by two 7's combining together to create the letter Z. The number 7 symbolizes completion, which relates to the music's fulfilling and healing properties. The band is currently on tour with the Illusionists on the second leg of their Mega World Tour with stops in Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia, and Panama. Check out their debut album ARIZE - The Prequel. Goth-Trad @ SMOG Sundays - Dim Mak Studios 06/17 [Concert Review]

Flyer for SMOG Sundays 06/17 - SMOG website: smogla.com

Goth-Trad - Photo credit: Dataset
Last Sunday, June 17, Goth-Trad played out a massive set at SMOG Sundays to a very eager and bass-hungry crowd. His performance at SMOG Sundays in Hollywood at Dim Mak Studios was one of his stops for his west coast tour of the US. For those of you who haven’t heard of Goth-Trad, he’s a Japanese dubstep producer who has had several releases out on Mala’s highly respected bass music label Deep Medi Musik. Goth-Trad’s latest release was his LP New Epoch on Deep Medi Musik, which is essentially a very minimalistic yet deep and substantial album that embodies the Deep Medi vibe. He also made an appearance on Bassweight, a documentary about the origins and rise of dubstep that I would highly recommend viewing if you want to know what dubstep is really all about.

Metallica - Live in Mexico City (Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria) [Live Videos]

Metallica: Official | Purchase: Live in Mexico City - Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria

I remember when I first started really getting into the heaviness that is MetallicA about 10 years ago as a child in grade school, my cousin that introduced me to all the madness showed me Live Sh*T: Binge and Purge. It was then that I could feel the magnitude of how huge this band and its following is when hearing the roaring crowd of Mexico City. Fast Forward to 2012 where MetallicA has been kind enough to upload a few videos from one of their latest Live DVD's: Live in Mexico City - Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria, almost 20 years after Live Sh*t was released in 1993! If you love MetallicA as much as I do then you will definitely enjoy these High Quality videos of MetallicA tearing up Foro Sol in Mexico City from the comfort of your home!

Galapagoose - Commitments [New Release]

Galapagoose: Official | Bandcamp

I remember semA passing me galapagoose's first couple EP's a while back during our Summer Extravaganza series. The fact that this Melbourne beat junkie offered the releases all for free on his website made me love him from the start. The more I listened to his loose rhythms that shift and sway, the more I appreciated his experimentalism.

Fast forward a handful of months and we get word that Daedelus' Magical Properties Records has a full length from galapagoose ready for worldwide distribution. If you're into downtempo beats with an experimental twist then commitments is for you! Pick up your digital copy on bandcamp or boomkat today! Also for the record collectors, Special limited edition LP of commitments is also available from galapagoose! [e]njoy

Rubblebucket Live in Chicago [Live Video + Tour Dates]

Rubblebucket: Official | Live in Chicago DVD/CD: Pre-Order

I'm used to hearing blaring horns over fast paced upbeat Ska music. The folks in Rubblebucket seem to incorporate them so well in their style of music. I'm not entirely sure what exactly is their style but I do know it is fun and it is catchy. Their colorful sound makes me imagine nothing short of a great time at one of their shows and the video goes to show that Rubblebucket live is exactly that, a fun great time! I've got to get to the bottom of what their musical influences are sooner or later. I've been meaning to catch them our here in LA the last few times now but haven't made it so i'm excited to hear that they will be back on tour this spring. If your'e at SXSW this weekend make sure the check them out! If not, check out the tour dates below to see when they're coming to a city near you.

Ninja Academy - Ninja Academy [New Music + Final Release]

Ninja Academy: Official | Bandcamp

I remember my first encounter with these ninjas like it was yesterday. It was a cold dark night in Los Angeles and I found myself at Ground Zero. As a young ninja myself.. actually as a pre-ninja.. I had no idea what was in store. My older cousin had taken me and my bro Nativity out for some music. Little did I know I would meet this instrumental bass and drum fury head on at this tiny coffee shop at USC. Indo-ninja and Outdo-Ninja were like a tag team of deadly warriors, and masters at their weaponry. With the advanced technology of 2003 the ninjas had incorporated new techniques into their presentation that allowed them to multiply themselves and their soundwaves in true Ninja fashion and completely break down the barriers of reality, melting the faces of all in attendance, literaly. Since then I have been a ninja in training, and have been anxiously anticipating the follow up of their smash LP Bra'ka dOm. Fast forward almost a decade, a tiny little bird tells me that the third and final self-titled Ninja Academy album is ready for the light of day and ready to take over new eardrums all over the planet.

DiamonD EyE at a Glance [Feature Interview]

DiamonD EyE [MJAZZ]: Soundcloud | Deep Thoughts

Great music is hard to come by and with the availability of the tools and technology today it is easy to sink into the saturated sound of the average creator. Very rare is it to find someone that is brave enough to go beyond the norm and experiement with new sounds and new styles. Very rare is it to find someone that is passionate about the music and creates solely for the feelings it brings him or herself, not to please others. In order to find great music you have to dig (or should I say dive) deep, real deep. The deep end is exactly where I found UK representative and bass specialist DiamonD Eye. This extraordinary experimentalist is the truth. I had to dive so deep into the abyss that I almost forgot to share this interview with the world. Without further adue, here is DiamonD EyE...
