To be honest, I've been waiting a while for this release to come out, and I'm about to pick it up after I write this post, and you should too after listening to the previews at the bottom. So basically, this is the first release by two of the biggest underground artists in the dubstep/post-dubstep/bass music/whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call-it scene on their newly formed label Sunklowun, which is where Joy Orbison and Boddika will be putting out several 12" releases. These two producers are no strangers to collaborating, specifically with their last collaborating being "Swims," which was released exclusively on 12" on dubstep artist Loefah's Swamp 81 label not too long ago. While Joy Orbison has been known for putting out deep dubstep bangers, most notably "Hyph Mngo," his releases lately have been influenced towards a more house-y sound. His collaboration with Boddika's more techno influenced style leads to some interesting results, with the strict, rigid four-on-the-floor beats that characterize techno with the more rhythmic chord stabs that characterize house. Since there's no word yet on whether or not there will be a digital release on this, it's best that you bag this before the stock runs out. This release has definitely got me groovin', and I definitely look forward to anything else that comes out of this huge collaboration!

Yes, I know it's been a while since I've posted up an Infrasonics post, but to be honest, I've been swamped with schoolwork and whatnot, and now that I'm on spring break, I though it would be a good time to catch up on some of the releases coming up next month, which appears to be the month of releases for a lot of dubstep releases.
Wretch 32 feat. Example – Unorthodox [Forthcoming April 17, 2011]
I seriously have not been able to stop listening to this remix. In fact, I find most of Bar 9's remixes and productions to be very addicting to my ears. Plus, Example, who Bar 9 did a remix for not too long ago for his single "Kickstarts", is featured in this track. The single includes a radio edit, an instrumental, two dubstep remixes by Bar 9 and Distance, a house remix by Moto Blanco, and a sick drum & bass remix by Logistics.
The long awaited release of this massive EP is finally here! It's been over a year since Reso's last major release on Civil Music with the Temjin EP which contained "Otacon" and "Armored Core", two very massive dubstep bangers (listen here if you haven't heard it yet!). The artwork for this EP is just as huge as the tracks that are contained in this release and just as awesome as the artwork for Temjin EP (it's so awesome, I had to post it up just to get your attention!).
I'm a big fan of anything Rottun Recordings releases, so this one's a treat. Fans of Datsik, Excision, Downlink, and basically anyone who's ever released anything on EX7 or Rottun will enjoy this release.
Huge drum and bass banger from an awesome collaboration between Hospital Records artists Danny Byrd and Netsky. I don't know if it's because I'm a sucker for catchy hooks (who isn't?), but this is definitely one I enjoy a lot. It has a very feel good vibe to it and the music video's also pretty damn entertaining. My favorite remix off this release is definitely Cutline's drumstep remix; I just love the beat and the twist that they put on the vocal hook. I think after just a couple listens, you'll be singing along with the chorus and humming that melody.

Big release from these New York based producers on Hotflush Recordings. Very chilled out and deep dubstep tracks, these tracks have a lot of ambient sounds along with dark sounding drums and expressive basslines. I highly suggest this release.
Eddie K, Beezy, Minus / Jakes, D Minds – Serial Killa (D Minds Remix) / Gold Chain [Purchase: Juno | Beatport]
Here's two massive drum & bass tracks that were released a few days ago on DStyle Records. If you haven't heard the original dubstep version of "Serial Killa", I suggest checking that out too. The D Minds remix of "Serial Killa" is just a drum and bass banger that gets into a drumstep part and you'll just wanna jump up and down while hearing this track. "Gold Chain" is also a massive track worth checking out.
So I decided to make another Infrasonics post for this week just because I’ve been listening to a lot of stuff and I’m in the mood to write another post since I’m kind of tired of studying for this winter class I’m taking right now.
Don Diablo feat. Dragonette – Animale (Datsik Remix) [Purchase: Beatport | Juno – forthcoming on January 31]
I always love the touch that Datsik puts on his tracks, be it an original or a remix. But I especially love what he did with this track because the vocal melody and synths are just as infectious as the gritty basslines he always puts in all of his tracks. This tune is a definite banger and I highly recommend it.
Phillysoundsystem – Sex, Drugs & Hospital EP [Purchase: Beatport]
Just thought I’d throw this release on here because I’m really diggin’ it. This just came out earlier this month on the 3rd on Beatport. I would jump on getting this release, but honestly, I’m just waiting for it to not be a Beatport exclusive so I can pick this up on Juno Download. And going off on a little tangent, I just want to say that I really dislike the fact that Beatport charges $1.00 more for each track if you want it in .wav, which is ridiculous and why I suggest buying tracks off Juno Download or Bleep whenever possible, where you can buy a whole release at a more reasonable price. Also, Beatport doesn’t even include album art with their releases whereas Juno Download gives you the option to.
But anyways, enough ranting from me. Let me start with the title track, “Sex, Drugs & Hospital”. This track has a strong four-on-the-floor beat throughout, which you don’t see often in many dubstep tracks, but this one holds its ground very well. It’s very reminiscent of Noisia’s “Alpha Centauri” with a female vocal sample in the background; the bassline has a lot of grit and filth but also with that quick decaying envelope sound in the synth that complements the hard hitting bass drum.
“Take You Away” (posted above) is a track that was actually in Phillysoundsystem’s last EP, the Memory Lane EP on LU10 Records, but is also included in this release, and I don’t see why not - this track has one catchy melody held up by vocals from Jess along with one fat bassline throughout the track. I love the very low wobble that’s going on underneath everything; it doesn’t overpower the drums nor the vocals and synths. This track would sound awesome in any dubstep set, be it a mellower one or one with harder hitting bangers.
Next, we have “Camel Riddim”, a track I can definitely see being played alongside darker dubstep tracks. This track has a sick wobbling bassline underneath that attacks on the upbeat of every couple of measures. It also has a very simple and effective bass drum and snare pattern backed up with some congas to drive the beat forward. If you’re a fan of Skream, Distance, or Pinch, you’ll like this one.
“Let The Music Play” starts out with some acoustic drums with a pad building up to a vocal part which rises up where it then drops with a dark and fat bassline which progresses with some grungy sounding wobbles every few measures. I’m really diggin’ the drums, especially the snare and the bass – they complement the bassline and the vocals in a way that makes it sound heavy without going too over the top.
Finally, we have “Trench Foot”, the last track on this release. I really enjoy this track because the intro builds up into a drop that keeps you up in the air even when the sub bass comes in. I would highly recommend this track in any filthy dubstep set because I feel the bassline will keep the crowd up on their feet and will have everyone’s hands up in the air. This is probably my favorite track off this release so definitely check it out.
Overall, this release is very versatile in any dubstep DJ’s set and is definitely an awesome listen. I highly recommend checking out other releases on LU10 Records because they put out a broad spectrum of heavy bangers in the dubstep and house departments.
I’m pretty stoked on this release because this drum & bass producer Sigma’s first proper dubstep release. If you haven’t heard the original version by Fenech-Soler, I highly suggest it because the chorus is just catchy as hell. And if you don’t know Sigma, I highly suggest checking out their tracks “Front To Back” and “Paint It Black” (I just realized these two tracks, right after another, rhyme, kind of.), two very prominent tracks that have been in rotation in many DJs’ sets and mixtapes, namely Sub Focus’ Future Bass mix and more recently, Nero’s Essential Mix, which Nativity got me hooked on since it came out. Overall, this track has a strong drop and a strong bassline while still maintaining the very catchy chorus and vocal parts throughout. I definitely think this remix does justice to the original track.
Bonus: Duck Sauce – Barbara Streisand (Sigma Remix) This remix is just too sick to ignore, so I’ll post it up right here:
This track might be a bit older than the last few ones I’ve been posting, but I just thought I’d share this because I ran across an mp3 of it on my hard drive (I really wish this wasn’t territory restricted in the U.S. on all the sites I buy music from because I’d really like to buy a lossless version of this!) while organizing my music and it brought me back to a few months ago when this track was on repeat in my car. I seriously could not get this track out of my head because it’s so damn catchy and fun to sing along to. This remix has a darker twist to the original track (which is equally as awesome). I definitely recommend this track along with the TC remix, which is a drum & bass remix with a heavy sub bass that’ll rattle your brain at high volumes, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, his most recent album Won’t Go Quietly.
If you've followed our blog recently, last month, one of our own, Nightfox, interviewed Treasure Fingers aka The Enemy, one third of Evol Intent, a trio of American producers mostly known for making some of the heaviest drum & bass I've come across so far. Well, they've come out with a new dubstep release including this track and a remix by J. Rabbit of their track "Reality Check". I first heard heard this track a few months ago when Excision played it on his Shambhala 2010 mix and I thought this track was one of the many tracks on that mix that caught my attention. The basslines are filthy, the bridge is chockfull of 808 kicks, and the vocals in this track are just as hard as the other instruments. Highly recommended to fill that void Britney Spears' latest pseudo-dubstep track made in your heart.

Rally J makes chiptunes (8-bit music) using an original Nintendo Game Boy with LSDJ, which is pretty much a music workstation for the Game Boy platform. I really dig the fact that they sound like the soundtrack for a video game, but at the same time, very danceable. Check out this and his other release and feel free to download them!
Fabricated- Pinay Catfight
So here’s a track that I finished last week. What I have posted here isn’t a completely finished version, but it’s close enough. I’m currently working on a 174 BPM drumstep version in addition to a remix for a friend of mine in San Diego, CA. I might include all 3 of these in a release soon on bandcamp or something. Late Night Alumni - It’s Not Happening (Original Mix) [Purchase: Beatport | Juno]
This track came out a few days ago and being a fan of Late Night Alumni, I had to check this one out. “It’s Not Happening” starts out with some reverse samples, and then some cymbals and a synth kick in, and right when the vocals come in, a shuffling garage beat and a discrete yet deep bassline come in and that’s where it gets me. Also, check out the Kaskade mix too if you’re into progressive house.
Here’s another track with a garage beat on it that I stumbled upon looking at the new tracks that came out this week. Very relaxing and ambient sounding with some Burial-esque drums and sampling. I recommend checking out the other track on this release, Watchtower, which is equally as relaxing with a dubstep beat, some really deep bass, and what I take to be a smooth and sexy saxaphone sample drowned in reverb in the back.
Being a fan of anything Hotflush Recordings releases, this just came out today and when I heard it, I felt that I should post this up. I really dig the vocal sample every few beats along with the chilled out beat and fat bassline underneath those drums. Highly recommend if you were digging the last two tracks I posted along with artists like Joy Orbison, Scuba, or Breakage.
All I really have to say about this track can be summed up in two words – HUGE DROP! Crank up the bass for this one! Massive bassline, sick top line coming in around a minute, and really punchy reverberated drums will give you your daily dose of filth. If you’re a fan of Skream, Benga, or basically anything dark, heavy, and filthy, I highly recommend this track.

So here’s another week of Infrasonics from me, fabricated. Before I start sharing some of my weekly picks, I’d like to start with a video that I found very amusing. I am a huge fan of 1000 Ways To Die on Spike, so seeing this made me laugh. It’s basically death by too much infrasonic waves, which are really low frequency waves that most humans can’t hear. If you’re a little squeamish, then you might want to skip over this.
Anyways, I digress; now, onto my weekly picks.
Delorean - Real Love [Purchase @ Juno | Bleep] My girlfriend showed me this track while I was studying for a test I had today for my philosophy class and I just thought I’d share it because I really enjoyed it and I’d love to use this in a mix or set sometime soon.
Katy B - Louder [Purchase @ Juno] I remember hearing this song for the first time and not really getting into it, but the more I listened to it more and eventually it grew on me. Katy B’s vocals and the UK funky beat behind it gets me excited for the evening whenever I listen to it driving at night. This track was produced by DJ Zinc and the other track on this release, Katy On A Mission, which was produced by Benga, is definitely a dubstep banger.
Feed Me - Cloudburn (feat. Tasha Baxter) [Purchase @ Beatport] Feed Me aka Spor never disappoints me. Anything on mau5trap recordings also never really disappoints me either. The drop is pretty dark and heavy and the chorus hook will definitely grab your attention. If you like anything along the lines of Skrillex, Datsik, Excision, or one of the many heavy dubstep producers that have been up and coming recently, you’ll probably like this.
Starkey - Fourth Dimension [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno | Bleep] This track Philadelphia based dubstep and electronica producer Starkey was definitely one of the surprise tracks I found while finding tracks to play on the Dank Radio New Year’s show. I definitely did not expect the first drop in this track, especially with that few seconds of silence right before. I highly suggest checking out the rest of Starkey’s album Ear Drums And Black Holes.
So it’s almost the new year and I’m pretty excited for what’s coming up this year. A new semester at school (somewhat sarcastic “yay!”), a new year’s resolution (which most of us forget after a month), and new music upcoming this year! So for this post, I’m going to write about a few tracks I’m excited to hear and see released this year and a few of my picks for the end of this year. Enjoy! - fabricated
Far East Movement - Like A G6 (Bare Remix) I don’t know about you guys, but for me, “Like A G6” was (and still is) pretty much the party anthem for this year. So for an awesome Los Angeles dubstep producer like Bare to make a filthy remix of this year’s soundtrack to your inebriation is definitely something to look forward to next year.
REDS feat. Tehbis & Fee Lups - Green Lanes I first heard this track on Zero T’s Fabriclive 52 mix and to be honest, sometimes I just pop in the CD and skip to track 29 (this track) just to hear this. I love the vocal “oohs” in the intro that lead into the very groovy hip hop beat which then just leads into one of the cleanest and most head bobbing drops I’ve heard this year.
Modestep - Feel Good Live band + that resampled/downsampled bassline (the “WOOOW!” or the “WHOMP!” sound) + a catchy hook = this song. Enough said, I’m stoked for this to be released.
Blame feat. Ruff Sqwad - On My Own (Drumsound & Bassline Smith Remix) [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno ] For the past two weeks, I’ve been listening to this track and humming the melody to myself. Highly recommend this as well as the Doctor P remix of Star by Blame feat. Camilla Marie
Katy B - Katy On A Mission [Purchase @ Juno ] If I had to make a playlist of tracks that get me stoked to be going to a party, this would definitely be on the top 5 (at least for this year). Katy B knows her way to a catchy vocal hook; Benga’s bassline complements the vocals excellently.

Bop - Enjoy The Moment (Unquote Remix) [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno] I’ve been playing out this track for a few weeks now and it’s seriously the soundtrack to my late night drives home. Very ambient sounding dubstep with a strong yet calming drop. I highly suggest checking out Bop’s album Clear Your Mind as well as the remix EP Remix Your Mind, both out on Med School Records (Hospital Records’ more experimental sister record label).
The XX - Crystalised (Dark Sky Remix) [Purchase @ Bleep | Beatport | Juno] The XX’s XX album is one that I always find myself listening to in my car and at school when I’m studying all the time, so coming across the remixes of the singles was a treat for me when I ran across them and next to the Nosaj Thing remix of “Islands”, this is probably my next favorite remix of The XX. Very garage-y beat with a simple and effective bassline with a top synth that kind of reminds you of Laidback Luke and Steve Angello’s mix for “Show Me Love” by Robin S.
Little Dragon - Recommendation (Toddla T Remix) [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno] I actually found this track just digging through various online music stores looking for a few tracks to put into the mix I made for the most recent Dank Radio broadcast. What I really love about this track is the deep bass and how it hits hard without sounding like a chainsaw ripping through your eardrums. Recommendation (pun intended): check out the original track – it’s just as catchy and dance-y as this remix.
Utah Jazz - Take No More (N-Type Remix) [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno] This track is like a well-designed roller coaster to me because first you encounter the smaller drop on a roller coaster that prepares you for what you’re about to encounter; after the turn that follows that, you see the crazier drop and you realize what’s about to happen, so you hold tight and prepare for that gut-wrenching drop. That’s pretty much what this track is for me: a well-designed roller coaster.
Calvin Harris - Flashback (Goldie Remix) [Purchase @ Beatport | Juno] No joke, the moment I first heard the crescendo of the first second of this track, I already knew I was going to like this. I really enjoyed Calvin Harris’ Ready For The Weekend album as well as some of the remixes of the singles, but I really found myself loving this drum and bass remix and, thanks to Nativity, also Nero’s remix of “You Used To Hold Me”. I recommend checking out the video for the original version of “Flashback” by Calvin Harris. Fun fact: Goldie was in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.
