Cypress Hill SmokeOut Festival 2012 [Concert Review]

SmokeOut festival a full day of celebrating music and that magical herb that cures all ailments. This was my first trip to the festival but not to the NOS center so I already expected the traffic which gave me the perfect opportunity to mentally prepare for the event. What i didn't expect was the ease of finding parking and effecientcy at the gate that led to the Buddah Garden. I was in line for about 5 minutes before I knew it I was inside the garden surrounded by an eclectic crowd of smokers sitting in hammocks, couches, and lawn chairs rolling and packing various devices. After spending some time in the smokers paradise trading pleasantries I made my way into the festival. I was pretty late and missed alot of the acts i wanted to see like Mobb Deep Fashawn and Currency but I was still excited to see Daedelus and Korn.

I first heard the combining of the two blazing forces Cypress Hill X Rusko's 'Roll It Light It' from a live video of Rusko at the Wiltern last year. Apparently there's a collaboration titled Cypress X Rusko EP, set to release this April 2012, just in time for my birthday. I can't wait to hear a fresh handful of Cypress Hill rhymes over Rusko's bass and beats. The all day mind opening experience also known as Cypress Hill's Smoke Out will be returning to the NOS center on March 3rd. So far, this year's line up includes Sublime with Rome, Korn, Wiz Khalifa, Cypress Hill, The Dirty Heads, and Cafe Tacuba, with many more artists to be announced. The last edition of the Smoke Out fest featured the likes of Incubus, Manu Chao, Slightly Stoopid, Erykah Badu, Deadmau5, Nas & Damien Marley, and MGMT, just to name a few! The last edition of the festival also featured the addition of a designated consumption area for Medical Marijuana patients. If you have experienced this all day mind opening experience before then you know it is definitely NOT one to miss.
