The following Feature Interview has to be the easiest + fastest I ever went from meeting an event organizer to getting the feature published. As lady luck on my side I met Adam Weiss aka AdamantiumMC|Dirty Daddy this past weekend during the Truth Seekers program right before Dank Radio broadcasted live on air. I'm pretty sure I set a record for introducing myself + explaining who Dank Radio is + what we do for event organizers + agreeing upon a type of Feature + exchanging contact information. It took all of 2 minutes for this to happen while the whole time I was mentally prepping for our In-Studio guest and the uncertainty of what songs to play during our show.

As the week slowly progresses into the weekend I'm slowly and surely growing more and more excited to experience my first Lightning In A Bottle. It seems like each day I'm learning more about this amazing festival experience. A few days ago a video/article/interview was shared online that really puts everything into perspective. We get to hear from the people who labor year round to provide this unique experience to everyone who attends. From the amazing artists we're looking forward to covering, to the depth of workshops available, and the plethora of artists participating, I'm honestly not sure how me and [e]ccentric will cover it all, but we shall try. Many thanks to Steven @ The Confluence Group for reaching out to us and inviting us to this new experience. After seeing Duck Sauce + Boys Noize + Chromeo + Skrillex + Odd Future perform at Coachella this year, the opportunity to see them again is definitely a treat. I'm looking forward to seeing Carte Blanche [DJ Mehdi & Riton] perform since I missed them the last time they were in town. I'm also extremely excited to finally see Siriusmo perform live. I remember the first time [e]ccentric showed me the video for the EDC 2010 trailer. I responded with, "Wait. We're going to that? On BOTH days?!". The initial response was something along the lines of "This looks like the most craziest amount of fun possible. What a way to start the summer." This year EDC is back but they've added a third day. I can barely survive Coachella's three day insanity, I hope my body will forgive me for the amount of fun I'll have in Las Vegas. If you have yet to purchase your tickets go get them as soon as possible. I'm certain it will sell out. See you all there!

Not very many artists have the long term vision and/or work ethic needed to create a multidimensional concept album, encompassing everything from story booklets, music videos, and full fledged movie. If Johnny Depp shows up in his whole Mad Hatter garb I'm going to go bonkers. I wonder if there will be secret underground tunnel entrances for super special and magical ticket holders. Will Alice consume the bottles labeled "DRINK ME" and cake aptly titled "EAT ME". Is there going to be a blue caterpillar on top of a giant mushroom in the Caterpillars Garden smoking a hookah. Do we have to attend the tea party in order for us to get to the Queens Domain? None of these answers are questioned in the official trailer. There is however a yummy audible treat titled Space Junk which accompanies the stellar visuals.

The Electro Wars

Not too long ago I remember the heated debate about vinyl versus mp3s. I remember going to the club scratching my head wondering why this dude was only showing up with a messenger bag with his headphones, two fake records, and a macbook. I would talk amongst my DJ friends and ask them "What's the deal? You guys got tired of hauling milk crates to and from the venues?" They would then laugh and I'd explain, "I remember when I had to carry crates up 4 flights of stairs just so my cousin would give me a 10 min. slot at this party.(That was about 10 years ago)" People still discuss that same issue but these days it's more so about Serato VS. Traktor VS. Ableton.

Another burning topic has surfaced and this time it's about the music. The Electro Wars is the title of this battle and a recently debuted documentary by Stephen Alex Vasquez. Stephen with his partner in crime, Carmine Rizzo explore this new/old front of electronic dance music with the help of A-Trak, Dave-1, DJ Premier, Lil Jon, Ninjasonik, Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke, Diplo, Q-Bert and more. They cover the emergence of bedroom producers, to the popularity game of blogs and blog aggregators, and the evolution/transition of former Hip Hop heavy weights into present day kings of Electro.

They have yet to announce a premier for Los Angeles but rest assured, you'll know, when we know.
