Sleigh Bells - Tell Em (Diplo Remix)

Sleigh Bells : Official | Facebook | Twitter

You just gotta love being an insomniac sometimes. Key word in the sentence is "sometimes". Lack of sleep + Refreshing twitter feed = Diplo's RT. I would attempt to describe Diplo's remix of Sleigh Bell's track Tell Em but the man himself has taken the liberty to express in great detail how the song came to be...

"Derek from sleigh bellz and me have matching florida tattoos and we both are from shitty parts of broward county // & their last album was one of the sickest of '10 .. its soo sick, its gave me a stomach ache .. half lyrnyrd skinnard half bangladesh half man half alligator.. . me and derek and alexis are bros and sis for life. in fact i like sleigh bells so much .. me and switch was in studio in nyc tryin to make tracks with derek and beyonce last week after we played her team their album .. dunno if we gonna manage to finish but was good times. I started this mix for them like a year ago but it took derek about 6 months to send stems so it was kinda in remix limbo but i really wanted to get it out to u guys cause i think the bass and the drums sounds nice and u can play it at your next party." by Diplo

Jack Beats - Mixmag Mini Mix

Jack Beats : Facebook | Twitter | Soudcloud

Was running late for work again this morning and I was trying to find a 6 min. track to play while I got my things in order. Good thing I was logged onto facebook when I saw Jack Beats post this FREE mini mix they did for Mixmag. All you have to do is click on the image on their facebook page and it'll automatically download.

There are lots of things to take into consideration when planning/performing a mix. There's song selection with familiar vs new tracks. You have to pace the vibe and flow of intensity to create a whole musical journey for the listener. To take things to an advance level you can even mix in key and progress all the songs in ascending or descending order. Somehow the Jack Beats managed to do all of this in 5 min and 24 seconds. If you're wondering what two master Turntablists can do when they go from turning skratch tricks into making house hits download the mix and find out. If you're looking for more I've went ahead and included some of my favorite tracks of theirs down below.

Bonus:
Diplo Ft Blaqstarr- Get Off (JACK BEATS REMIX) by Jack Beats

Florence and the Machine- Drumming Song (JACK BEATS REMIX) by Jack Beats

BIG BOI- Shutterbugg (JACK BEATS REMIX *OFFICIAL*) by Jack Beats

RJD2 - The Glow Remixes EP

RJD2: Official | Facebook | Twitter | Bandcamp

Looks like a whole lot of artists are in the giving mood in this part of the year. Continuing the offering of stellar remixes is Hip Hop|Electronica|Funk producer/dj RJD2. Some of you may only be familiar with the instrumental of his track A Beautiful Mine which was used in the opening credits of one of my current favorite TV shows, Mad Men. I WOULD try to explain what his remixes of The Glow [from his 2010 release The Colossus @ Amazon | iTunes ] are about but as you're starting to learn that my writing skills aren't that great at this time of night/day. So to save you all from my poor writing is the music man himself to explain...

"So here we have it - three new remixes of "The Glow" single from my last album "The Colossus." The first track comes from the Chicago heavyweight DJ duo Flosstradamus. They give the original a dancefloor-friendly makeover. Next up is the Paolo Palazzo remix. Paolo was the winner of "The Glow" remix contest - the public overwhelmingly voted for his futuristic flip with the super insane bass line! Lastly is a remix by a young buck, Candy Panther. This kid's demo was slick enough to land him a spot on the single, with a smooth, laid back mid-tempo club remix. All in all, many bases get covered here, so check 'em out. Enjoy!" - RJD2

Boys Noize - "Yeah" (AC Slater Remix)

I was just about to call it a night but this track popped up in my feed via the Boys Noize Records Facebook Page. Right when you think "Yeah" couldn't become even more fun AC Slater goes out and presents us with his take on the song. Not only that but he gives it out for free. That's a win|win in my book. Here's what the good people at BNR had to say about the track...

"HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!!! Our friend AC SLATER (Trouble & Bass etc. is he even signed on it?) sent us this cool remix some days ago which we would like to share with you as a present to start this new year." [via]

Together As One 2011 - Set Times

Official | Facebook | Twitter | Tickets

Growing up my parents always told me and Eccentric that whatever you do during the first moments of the year will be a good gauge of what types of activities will be in-store for the remainder of the year. With that said...

Go Ventures and Insomniac have put together one massive line up for their lucky number 13. Having to decide on whether to spend the countdown with either Laidback Luke, Jack Beats/Major Lazer, or Rusko is just killing us. LBL has held it down each and every single time we've seen him this year and knowing him he'll have some LA treats thrown into his mix for this special occasion. Jack Beats, Wolfgang Gartner, and Nero have all produced mind blowing Essential Mixes. 12th Planet and Kill The Noise have always held it down for the locals and it'll be great to see them at the party. Diplo might even do his special 'ladies' set to get all the females grinding/grooving. And the opportunity to finally witness the Dada Life is just plain bananas.

Whichever artists we do have the opportunity to party with at TAO will in no doubt be a great time. I can't think of any other way I'd like to start off my year. Spending time with my brother, good music, and fun people. 2011 is going to be a fun year, this I'm certain. [Bonus Info: We're heading up to the radio station RIGHT AFTER TAO. In true Dank Radio fashion the party will continue until the sun rises. LIVE BROADCAST // Aziatik Rhythmz Present: Dank Radio // Saturday Jan 1st. 4 - 6am // 90.7fm KPFK // kpfk.org {streaming worldwide}]
