Beyond Wonderland 2011 [Caterpillars Garden: Line Up]

Beyond Wonderland : Official | Caterpillars Garden | Tickets

So I've been feeling pretty sick this whole week because of a combination of lack of sleep, long school hours, overpriced food on campus, and being around other sick people, but finding out the drum & bass/dubstep stage line up for Beyond Wonderland 2011 got me stoked (not to mention also feeling a little better about being sick)! For those of you who don't know, Beyond Wonderland is a music festival held in San Bernadino, CA by Insomniac Events, which many people in the electronic music scene in North America would know, are responsible for such events like Nocturnal, Audiotistic, Together As One (on New Year's Eve) and the more well-known and famous Electric Daisy Carnival.

The confirmed line-up for the Caterpillars Garden (dubstep/drum&bass/bass music stage) as of right now is:

Noisia (Netherlands) – Big fan of these guys. Huge in the bass music scene from dubstep to drum & bass to breaks, these guys know how to make it dark, dirty, and deep. Check out their album Split The Atom.

Datsik (Canada) – Huge dubstep producer, really knows how to put the industrial filth in his productions. If you like your dubstep loud and hard, look no further and check out Datsik's tracks.

Dirtyphonics (live set) (France) – I honestly can't wait to see what these guys have in store with their live drum & bass set. plus they have some sick releases and remixes that are worth checking out.

Netsky (Belgium) – Can't say enough good things about his productions. Currently huge in the liquid drum & bass scene, exclusively signed to Hospital Records, which is one of THE drum & bass record labels based in the UK run by Tony Colman of London Elektricity and Chris Goss and features artists like High Contrast, Danny Byrd, Logistics, Mistabishi, and more.

DJ Fresh (United Kingdom) – If you haven't picked up his Kryptonite LP, I suggest you do that right now. Huge drum & bass album. Also, check out Flux Pavilion's remix of Gold Dust for those of you dubstep fans.

Jakwob (United Kingdom) – We interviewed him earlier this month and played an exclusive mix on our last radio show. Never disappointed with anything he puts out there, whether it's a wobbly dubstep track or a chilled out hip hop mix, I'm looking forward to seeing him since I was unable to catch him at Cinespace in LA this past week (Nativity, [e]ccentric, and Nightfox were able to though!)

Kastle (United States) – I've heard a couple of remixes and originals from him, and I really like his style. Quality (and not to mention very sexy) dubstep, garage, and r&b productions. Looking forward to seeing his set and what he throws at the crowd as well as everyone getting down to his tracks.

For those of you bass heads out there, this line up is too massive to pass up, so for those of you who lost the opportunity to get Coachella tickets because you dun goof'd and didn't realize they were sold out, checked eBay or Craigslist and cried because scalpers were selling event and camping passes for ridiculously inflated prices, and there's a huge chance you'll get ripped off because they haven't even shipped tickets yet, the consequences will never be the same; I highly recommend checking Beyond Wonderland out as an alternative for a fun weekend a month before. No, it's not 3 days. No, you won't get to camp onsite. No, Kanye West isn't playing. But tickets right now are $55 for general admission (GA), unlike the crazy prices I've seen for Coachella (I've seen prices around $800-1000 on eBay! Yikes!), so get them as soon as possible! Plus, hotels aren't more or less around $200 a night in the area (if you were lucky to even snag a hotel because most of them are sold out as well) and you don't have to stay 2-3 nights, let alone stay at all if you live in the LA/OC area and don't mind driving back after the event. And for those of you who did get lucky with Coachella tickets, then maybe you might want to consider this as a pre-Coachella party of some sort to get you hyped up.

If you have friends who are into other genres of electronic music like house, trance, or stuff in between, I'm sure there's something for them there, and if not, then they can enjoy the good vibes, maybe find an artist they might enjoy listening to, eat a lot of food there, and see all the awesome art installations that are scattered throughout the area. There's seriously so much diversity and things to do at events like these, there's no way you CAN'T have fun.

See you there!
