Looks like Destructo is going HARD as usual. Not only is there a Leap Year Party tonight with Mr. Oizo, and a smoggy DUB POLICE event this saturday with Caspa and friends, next month Gary Richards will be putting a dent in cities nationwide with a party pretty much every single weekend. Over the years HARD has been growing exponentially, from the first HARD 13 at the Shrine with Diplo and Boys Noize, to last years Hard Weekend tour with Simian Mobile Disco. March should officially be deemed HARD month, where the world celebrates HARD mania! I will not be surprised next year when Destructo announces HARD Earth, the simultaneous month long worldwide party featuring the newest outerworldly sensations visiting from different galaxies coming to our planet to expose us to that NEW NEW NEW, NEW sh*t! We're starting off the new year with a featured interview with someone who's become a familiar name amongst music enthusiasts from Los Angeles to New York. In the 1990s he was crazy enough to throw parties in Southern California theme parks. He's lived through the forever rotating cycle of popularity of dance music. His multiple multi-day concert series HARD began with a combination birthday/new years eve party a few years back. This man is one of few who can say they've successfully organized and executed a floating concert to the Bahamas and back. He does it all for the music and the love of his fans, which I'm sure by now you all know. Below you'll read highlights from his Holy Ship! adventure, how his upcoming performance at Coachella came to be, and maybe a hint on what's in store for HARD Summer [Purchase tickets here].

No explanation necessary. It's going to be a fun show. After seeing Duck Sauce + Boys Noize + Chromeo + Skrillex + Odd Future perform at Coachella this year, the opportunity to see them again is definitely a treat. I'm looking forward to seeing Carte Blanche [DJ Mehdi & Riton] perform since I missed them the last time they were in town. I'm also extremely excited to finally see Siriusmo perform live. If you have yet to get a copy of his latest release Mosaic [Purchase @ Modeselektor | Juno | Amazon] go get it. I know fabricated can't wait to see Noisia + Caspa + Emalkay + Nero. Early on sometime mid afternoon I receive a text message saying "You won! :)". Confused as to what I won and who this was from I responded with "What did I win?! And who is this?!" It turns out I won tickets for myself and four of my friends courtesy of The Drop Factory to that night's event at The Roxy presented by Hard. Joy Orbison was playing that night and Hyph Mngo was a constant in my rotation along with his remix of Four Tet's Love Cry. So I did what any other person recovering from Post-Coachella sickness would do, I rounded up some fun musically hungry people and headed up to Hollywood.

As we approached the Will Call and Guestlist area my name was no where to be found and no tickets were left for me as instructed. A bit confused I made them triple check my ID to both lists and still no luck. After 20+ calls straight to a voicemail and a handful of text messages we were out of luck. fabricated, [e]ccentric, D$, Ms. Alaijsha, and I made the drive all the way out there and we weren't going home empty handed. So again I did what anyone Post-Coachella, still hungry for more music, with a week off from work, who extremely detests my cubicle day job but is putting up with it because it's a source of income would do, buy 5 tickets for him and 4 of his friends[Total was $150 if you were wondering]. From here on out fabricated will take over the review as I was a bit infuriated at the situation and medicated the situation with a bit too much whiskey and thus was unable to take proper notes that night...

Looks like Destructo is going HARDer than ever for this years Spring events[lack of sleep = really bad writing]. Say goodbye to HARD 13 and say hello to HARD Weekend[see, it's not getting any better]. Everyone and anyone who's been to any of the 2010 HARD parties have witnessed the consistency of talent|production|fun for each event. In 2011 it appears that this will carry over with the continued focus on the following regions LA, SF/Oakland, and NY. I for one was very happy to find out that they're keeping the Los Angeles event at Club Nokia. So much so that I'm losing sleep right now to get this post running for you all. Tickets go on sale in less than 7 hrs, 10AM[PST] so for those of you who party on a budget be sure to wake up early to snag the limited discounted tickets HARD usually offers for their loyal party goers.

Hard New Year's Eve - Set Times

Sometime during this past summer Destructo was interviewed by a national publication about his plans for his Birthday this year and he stated that he wasn't doing anything. We actually believed this up until the point where he posted the line up for this years Hard New Year's Eve party. He's going strong right up until the year ends and there is no doubt in our mind that this party will be anything but the definition of the word Fun. With a line up including Brodinski (I didn't have a chance to check out his set during HHM), Congorock (Amazing set of releases this year!), Mr. Oizo (Be sure to pick up a copy of the Rubber Soundtrack), and local favorite Harvard Bass, this will surely be one of the premiere events in Los Angeles to ring in 2011. Major props to Hard Fest for continuing their exclusive mix series throughout the year. They had one with Erol Alkan for Hard Summer, one with Busy P & Brodinsky for Hard Haunted and they're finishing off this year with a mix by Harvard Bass. I've seen Harvard Bass rock crowds with no more than 25 people as well as a packed house at Avalon. His mix below is a great summary of what he can do when you're ready for #paritaim.
