GDD Guest Mix: Ardalan [DJ Mix + Free Download]

[via] I'm kickin' myself in the arse for missing Ardalan's set down at MDA's event at La Cave not too long ago. Discovering his track "Mr. Spock" was quite a random find a couple years ago. It was that hip hop sample after the drop that really did it for me. Little did I realize at that time how much hip hop sample based house music I would gravitate towards as I moved forward in the time space continuum. Check out his Guest Mix for GDD down below. It features some recent favorites of mine including Shadow Child & Tymer - 23 + Justin Martin & Christian Martin - Riding Spaceships (Ardalan's Lisa In The Sky Remix).

Tommie Sunshine - last call before they vanish for good... [Free Download]

Tommie Sunshine : Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud

Tommie Sunshine, the Santa Clause of house music, is giving us one last chance to grab a handful of his personal edits for our own listening and performing pleasure. I've personally used his Fake Blood - I Think I Like It edit many a time and received ecstatic expressions from the disco dance floor. Don't wait and hesitate to add these to your music library.

Martin Solveig - The Night Out (Madeon Remix) [Tour Dates]

Martin Solveig : Official
Madeon Remix : Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud

The boy wonder, Madeon, has done it again. This kid has yet to disappoint. Sure, he only has a total of nine releases, but I'll be dammed if he ever releases something I don't like. To me it's the combination of his attention to detail in conjunction with his insanely catchy melodies/chordal structures. It's not your basic dance tune that's for sure. He really creates a full song around his tracks. If you take all that into account and add the fact that he's ONLY 17, it starts to boggle the mind. What kind of music will this kid create in 5 years time? 10 years time? 20 years time? I honestly don't know. I can't see that far into the future. All I know is the song below is damn good...

Miike Snow - Paddling Out (Bart B More Remix) [Free Download]

Miike Snow : Official - Bart B More : Official | Facebook | Twitter

Lovin' this new remix by Bart B More on one of Miike Snow's latest creations. It's simple, choppy, and effective. It's a perfect track to use as you build a crowd, calm them down, or even blast them to new heights at a peak time during your DJ set. Download the original track for free on iTunes here.

The Yost Theater + Giant present: Hard Rock Sofa + Angger Dimas 3/15/12 [Upcoming Event + Tour Dates]

The Yost Theater + Giant present: Hard Rock Sofa + Angger Dimas @ Yost Theater | More Info

Tonight two of my current + favorite producers coming out of the scene make their way to Orange County. We have Hard Rock Sofa coming all the way from Russia with their hard hitting electro type synthesis. You might of hard one of their many productions created along with Swanky Tunes such as their take on The Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog", or their remix of Swanky Tunes track "Together". Both of which have in one point in time ended up in a dj set of mine. Along with HRS hails South East Asia's prince of house, Angger Dimas. Having studied under Laidback Luke through the LBL forums, Angger Dimas has shared his take on tracks ranging from the likes of Avicii, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, and Kelis. The event tonight is FREE before 10:30pm for 21+ w/ RSVP. It's $20 entry for 18+ before 10:30pm. Special Limited Pre-sales are available for $15. More info on tickets and RSVP here.

Laidback Luke & Insomniac presents: Super You & Me @ Palladium 3/10/12 [Concert Review]

Laidback Luke & Insomniac presents: Super You & Me 3/10/12 @ Hollywood Palladium

With a little bit of luck and a whole lot of persistence we were able to secure access to Laidback Luke's first Los Angeles presentation of his Super You & Me Party at the Hollywood Palladium. These infamous comic book dance events have been thrown primarily across the pond in many European cities. With less then a week leading up to the event I had to figure out the best person to contact for media access. Who better to ask then to ask Luke? So I tweeted him and he responded with who to contact. Who would of thought it was going to be that simple? [Sometimes the best way to break into this whole web of music industry personalities is to start w/ your favorite artist.] After a handful of tactful e-mail exchanges with a key emphasis of "If you tell us that same night of the event, even if it is a couple hours right before the doors open, we'll drive up to LA to review the show", we were in. Thank you Luke + Justin @ rephlektor + the comic book gods!

Daughter - Youth (Wild Culture's Leo crazy in love mix)

Daughter : Facebook | Twitter - Wild Culture : Official | Facebook | Twitter

A very cool and groovy deep house esque rendition of Daughter's (aka Elena Tonra) latest release Youth. Wild Culture really highlights the softness to Elena's vocal timbre and doesn't lose the whole emotion of the song through the 4/4 beat. I would definitely include this in my warm up sets and closing sets as well.

Jacques Greene - Concealer [EP Review]

Purchase vinyl @ Redeye Records
Purchase digital @ Bleep

So, while looking around for vinyls to pick up on Redeye, I came across this release and I took a few listens, and in fact, as I'm writing this, I'm still listening to the preview over and over again.

Jacques Greene is a 21-year-old bass music producer from Montreal. Basically, he's my age, which I find crazy in some way; regardless, the quality and composition of his music is way beyond his age, making music that can reach out to a very broad audience, whether it's dubstep or R&B.

I seriously love the way vocals are used in his tracks for this EP. "Flatline," featuring Ango, reminds me in a way of how The Weeknd's tracks just have those dark, but sexy vocals over an analog sounding R&B back beat. Listening to "Clark," the vocal samples definitely remind me of the warm yet dark tracks by Burial. Overall, the EP has a bangin' analog feel to it that'll get you groovin' and/or chillin' (at the same time even, if that's what you prefer).
