We here at Dank Radio are frequent attendees to SMOG's Dubtroit event down at The Observatory once a month and have yet to make the trek up to Dim Mak Studios for their SMOG Sunday events. Don't let this discourage your future decisions. The lower level frequencies at that venue will please any audiophile and their steady offering of BASS artists do not disappoint. Drum extraordinare and beat specialist KJ Sawka will be destroying The Roxy theater tomorrow night March 23rd with his arsenal of Drums both acoustic and electronic that will light up Sunset Blvd. After a two year world tour with platinum selling Pendulum, KJ is back in LA with a brand new set of grooves and I hope you're ready. In addition to a face melting brain smashing special KJ Sawka set, he will also be holding it down providing the rhythms for Conspirator, the brain child of Disco Biscuit's keyboardist Aron Magner and bassist Marc Brownstein. With a little bit of luck and a whole lot of persistence we were able to secure access to Laidback Luke's first Los Angeles presentation of his Super You & Me Party at the Hollywood Palladium. These infamous comic book dance events have been thrown primarily across the pond in many European cities. With less then a week leading up to the event I had to figure out the best person to contact for media access. Who better to ask then to ask Luke? So I tweeted him and he responded with who to contact. Who would of thought it was going to be that simple? [Sometimes the best way to break into this whole web of music industry personalities is to start w/ your favorite artist.] After a handful of tactful e-mail exchanges with a key emphasis of "If you tell us that same night of the event, even if it is a couple hours right before the doors open, we'll drive up to LA to review the show", we were in.
