   Just as J Dilla aka Jay Dee aka James Dewitt Yancey’s music had magically appeared into my life, so had my connection with the J Dilla Foundation. It all started with a simple Facebook friend request from Marketing/Brand Manager Diana Boardley. I usually don’t go through with random friend requests but this time I took a glance just to see what it was that brought this new person into my life. Upon clicking Diana’s profile I noticed her affiliation with the J Dilla foundation and the rest is history.

James, otherwise known to dubstep fans across the land as Jakwob, has just released the music video for his current single Electrify [pre order on iTunes 1/29]. The music video features the beautiful and talented vocalist Jetta along with Jakwob shooting out sonic booms out of the palms of his hands. The behind the scene video above goes into visual detail as to the mixtures used to conjure the electrifying explosions. Be on the look out for even more explosions when Jakwob hits the road on tour with his Live performance [crossing my fingers he brings this over to LA].

I first encountered a Will Bailey track during a Jack Beats mix I played non-stop a couple years ago. I lost track of what he was up to and some of the local DJs gave me a heads up that he's still crankin' out tunes and in fact he recently just moved out to LA. Below is one of said tunes that he dishes out with regularity on his Soundcloud page. He's begun to explore genres out side of his usual sonic scope of house and it's a fun change of pace. His track with Dskotek titled "Saxon" is a fun addition to any DJ's 100-110 bpm range.

In the 1990s he was crazy enough to throw parties in Southern California theme parks. He's lived through the forever rotating cycle of popularity of dance music. His multiple multi-day concert series HARD began with a combination birthday/new years eve party a few years back. This man is one of few who can say they've successfully organized and executed a floating concert to the Bahamas and back. But we've been getting a surge of new readers from across the globe so I'll re-hash it briefly. I actually thought Nero was just one dude when first heard of them. The track was Innocence. The all day mind opening experience also known as Cypress Hill's Smoke Out will be returning to the NOS center on March 3rd. So far, this year's line up includes Sublime with Rome, Korn, Wiz Khalifa, Cypress Hill, The Dirty Heads, and Cafe Tacuba, with many more artists to be announced. The last edition of the Smoke Out fest featured the likes of Incubus, Manu Chao, Slightly Stoopid, Erykah Badu, Deadmau5, Nas & Damien Marley, and MGMT, just to name a few! The last edition of the festival also featured the addition of a designated consumption area for Medical Marijuana patients.
