SMOG brought two of the UK’s finest producers to Southern California – Bristol’s Joker and Croydon’s Plastician – for a bass-filled evening at the Observatory in Santa Ana, CA on Saturday, January 12. Newham Generals’ Footsie provided support along with Son of Kick and a back-to-back set from SMOG all-stars Kelly Dean and Pawn.

SMOG Presents: Joker + Plastician + Footsie + Son Of Kick @ The Observatory 1/12/13 [Upcoming Event + Ticket Giveaway]

Not too long ago when Fabricated approached Drew of SMOG to say "hello" and get some intel on what they had planned for the upcoming year, Drew replied with, "Just wait and see." Around that time Joker tweeted something to the affect of "USA NYE & January!" I had a gut feeling, but I wasn't sure. Now it's for sure and everyone in the LA/LB/OC area is buzzing with excitement. The last time he was here was for Beyond Wonderland. I don't even remember what year that was. So we're long overdue for Purple City. Put your Sega controller down and purchase your tickets HERE. Also performing: Plastician + Footsie (Newham Generals) + Son Of Kick + Pawn [SMOG] + Kelly Dean [SMOG]. We're also giving away a pair of tickets to the show on our upcoming Dank Radio program Awakening featuring EshOne this Saturday Morning January 5th on KPFK 90.7FM LA // www.kpfk.org WoldWideStream. Tune in from 4am-6am and Call 818 985 5735 for your chance to win...

Flinch - Light It Up [New Release + Tour Date]

Flinch [SMOG] | Purchase Light It Up on iTunes
Big ups Flinch for his latest track Light It Up, which is now available for purchase at iTunes. Quite a sexxxi tune for a super chill dude. I don't think I've ever had a bad conversation with him, nor have I seen him spin a lackluster set. Always on his toes and ready to share the latest and greatest bass music. Speaking of his sets, he's going to be performing later on TONIGHT at the Dubtroit 3 Year Anniversary w/ 12th Planet over at The Observatory. I was at the Dubtroit 2 Year Anniversary and that was one hell of a night. I can only imagine the insanity which will ensue later on. Tickets are still available, but it may sell out soon. So get yours over here.

SMOG & GetDarker present: This Is Dubstep 2012 Album Launch Party w/ Benga + Katy B + DJ Craze [Concert Review + Free Download]
SMOG | GetDarker | The Observatory
Eccentric, Fabricated, G1ockz, and I headed back down to Santa Ana's The Observatory to experience another wonderful SMOG event [many thanks to Drew and the whole SMOG crew for their continued support + hospitality]. This time they partnered up with the one and only GetDarker. It was the first website I ever went to see Nero do a Drum & Bass dj set as well as Skream spin a set on a pair of Technics 1200s. GetDarker was celebrating the release of their compilation This Is Dubstep 2012 [purchase at iTunes | Amazon] and decided to join us here in Southern California for a proper party. Speaking of parties, after an extremely fun and eventful time with Skream + 12th Planet + Flinch we were really looking forward to seeing Skream's other half Benga. In addition to Benga's beats we were in store for the vocally stunning Katy B, multiple DMC champion turntablist and Slow Roast Records head honcho DJ Craze, and the creator of GetDarker himself, Darkside. Fabricated will take it from here and take you through that night's festivities. - Nativity

SMOG 5 Year Anniversary w/ Skream + 12th Planet + Flinch + more [Concert Review + Live Video]

SMOG | Media Contender | The Galaxy/Observatory
Eccentric, Fabricated, and I had a special invitation to join in the celebration of SMOG's 5 year anniversary at the Galaxy Theater[now called The Observatory]. We were also able to extend this invitation to a lucky listener of Dank Radio. So before we begin we'd like to thank Drew and everyone at SMOG for their hospitality. Previous to Skream's lower frequency onslaught we were able to catch Kelly Dean and Flinch represent for the whole SMOG crew. DJ Skeet Skeet warmed up the back yard boogie with a fun techy/tech house set. While Thee Mike B set the mood right with dub music leading into smooth liquid drum & bass. I'll let our in-house infrasonics instructor, Fabricated, explain the remainder of the evening. - Nativity
