In this day and age, we all have a lot going on in our lives and it is easy for us to get caught up in life's intensity. What we need to remember is that the grass is greener on the other side and that tomorrow is a new day. Appreciate the people present in your journey through life and don't forget to pass a smile onto anyone and everyone to help brighten up their day.

Would love to head up to the Bay for the Saturday installment of the festival. Chromeo always puts on a great show while Flylo always hits the spot in more ways then one can imagine. We had the misfortune of missing Death From Above 1979 at Coachella this year. It would be nice to see them before they disband once again[or will they continue their string of spontaneous festival dates throughout this year?]. Sets by Battles and Aloe Blacc would service all those with a varying hunger which spans the scope of intricate musical work all the way down to that simple soulful music that shakes your bones. Had the opportunity to catch Aloe Blacc at a local show last spring at The Commonwealth Lounge over in Fullerton. It was a treat to see a great local musician perform for an intimate setting. There were no more than 50 people that night and every single one of them had a great time. And so it was a great surprise to find out that he had taken this good time and presented it on one of my favorite tv shows, Conan. Here Aloe Blacc pulled all the stops with a full band and full line of backing vocalists. It's great to see more and more great local talent take the national stage. Some of my friends know of my recent liking to a new HBO show called How To Make It In America. In short, it follows the lives of two guys in their mid/late 20s trying to make something of themselves in one of the toughest cities to hustle. Whatever your thoughts are on the actual authenticity of the characters portrayed, you have to give it to them, it's a challenge to get your sh(*)t together in life.
In addition to getting your life in order, a majority of my fellow Americans (myself included), are apart of the growing status of unemployment. With my savings shrinking and lack of jobs growing, the importance of getting that dollar bill grows more and more each day. Aloe Blacc has managed to summarize the thoughts and emotion behind this predicament with great accuracy.
"I had a job but the boss man let me go. He said
I'm sorry but I won't be needing your help no more. I said
Please mister boss man I need this job more than you know
But he gave me my last paycheck and he sent me on out the door"
I applaud HBO for picking the perfect song to describe the show and the current state of people across the world. My hats off to Aloe Blacc for capturing this moment in time. Word on the street is that he's hiding somewhere in Long Beach. If I ever run into him, I'd be more than happy to scrounge up a handful of quarters, walk over to Eddie's Liquor store, and buy him a MadDog as a kind gesture of gratitude.
