Battles - Dross Glop 2 [New Release]

Purchase: Bleep (digital+vinyl) | Redeye Records | Chemical Records

(available only until February 26, 2012)

I remember seeing this mind blowing band a while ago at the Glass House in Pomona, CA and being amazed with their whole entire production. The music was excellent despite the technical difficulties they had, and the visuals, especially those of the guest vocalists singing to the audience, were basically a sight to see. Anyways, if you haven't heard Battles' latest album, Gloss Drop, I highly suggest you pick it up if you're into, and not limited to, anything like indie rock or math rock. I've been a huge fan of experimental math rock type of bands, so seeing and listening to Battles basically blew my mind, and still continues to. And also being a huge fan of all kinds of electronic music, I was pretty damn excited to hear about the Dross Glop series they were putting out, which is a collection of remixes released over four 12" releases (also available in MP3 and FLAC on Bleep.com).

Battles - Dross Glop 1 [Vinyl Release]

Battles [Warp]: Official | Gui Boratto: Official

We're going to switch up the pace now with the following tunes. If you've seen the first three from this morning we started to pick up the pace, but it's time to mellow things out for a bit to let everyone's ears rest. If you've seen our previous posts on Battles you know we hold these dude in high regard. They're such an awesome three piece (they used to have more members but its okay) and their grooves are so infectious. The combination of their musical creativity and openness has resulted in an upcoming a 4-part 12inch series [To the post Napster music lovers it means they're making 4 records]. The track above is the Gui Boratto remix of their Wall Street track. It's extremely groovy. Perfect for building up the crowds or cooling them out at 4am on the dance floor. Click on the "Read More + + +" just below to listen to the The Field remix of Sweetie & Shag.

Treasure Island Music Festival 2011 [Line Up]

Treasure Island Music Festival : Official | Facebook

Would love to head up to the Bay for the Saturday installment of the festival. Chromeo always puts on a great show while Flylo always hits the spot in more ways then one can imagine. We had the misfortune of missing Death From Above 1979 at Coachella this year. It would be nice to see them before they disband once again[or will they continue their string of spontaneous festival dates throughout this year?]. Sets by Battles and Aloe Blacc would service all those with a varying hunger which spans the scope of intricate musical work all the way down to that simple soulful music that shakes your bones. Tickets go on sale this Weds @ 10am.

Battles - Futura [Live Video + Tour Dates]

Battles [Warp Records]: Official | Facebook

Here goes part two of La Blogotheque's Take Away Show with Battles [Part 1 here]. Below you will find the three piece take you through the sonic ride of Futura. I'm only halfway with their brand new release Gloss Drop [purchase @ Official | iTunes | Best Buy | Bleep] because I keep repeating each track over and over and again. The sure amount of musical sounds created by just three individuals is astounding. If you're lucky enough to be in one of the towns they'll be touring in this year I highly suggest you see them perform live. If you're living in a place not so lucky to have them perform, you'll just have to listen to their album on repeat until they finally make their way around to your town.

Battles - Wall Street [Live Video]

Battles [Warp Records]: Official | Facebook

Absolutely enjoy the Take Away Show series by La Blogotheque. It's one of those "I always wanted to do that!" kind of moments whenever I watch these videos. This installment features Brooklyn NY's Battles from Warp Records. Their upcoming release titled Gloss Drops will be out on June 6/7th [Pre order @ Bleep|Amazon]. Unfortunately I don't understand French so I don't know what the statement below says, but I'm sure it's a brief description of what happened in Paris when they shot the video. Salutations to our readers/listeners in France...
