Le Twan - Lunar Bliss

OK. I've got a few things to say here first...

What happened to Disco???

Does anyone still crave it as much as I do? When I first started listening to dance music back in '07, '08, it was all about the disco. Fred Falke, Treasure Fingers, The C90s, Miami Horror, The Phantom's Revenge, and Justin Faust among many, many others were in my ears everyday. Somehow the genre seemed to fade away, usurped by Electro, Dubstep, Moombahton, and most recently Trap. I've been into all of those too, but nothing holds as close to my heart as good disco.

Well, I breathed a genuine "Oh, fuck! Thank God..." when I came across Le Twan, a Swiss producer that we plan to get a lot more involved with. Imagine walking on the milky way with the moon in full phase. This blissful lunar feeling is what Le Twan offers you with his new EP, out tomorrow on Sheeva Records. The titular track "Lunar Bliss" is a meticulous juxtaposition of playful melodies tinkling with the harmonies of old school synthesizers and disco beats. This joyful track, when heard on the dance floor, will linger in your mind as you smile, with the memory of your magnificent expedition to the milky way!

Enjoy a new favorite below, and come back soon for more from our friend Le Twan.

Garth Knight - Mainframe

I wasn't sure what to expect of an unidentified artist going by the name of Garth Knight when I came across it. I was intrigued, no doubt, but I was assuming that this was all a big, "Ha ha! Hasselhoff!" joke... The mysterious musician behind the Garth Knight alias should not be taken as a joke, however. The music is too fucking good. Quite appropriately, the tunes are heavily-synthesized and deliver to the listener that wonderfully eclectic 80s feel. You'll love it. Check out the story behind Garth's debut Goliath album and listen to a clip of the opening track "Mainframe," all below.

After being rescued by a submarine from Garth’s perilous cliff ride in his truck Goliath, Garth has managed to salvage Goliath from the depths of the ocean. With updated source code from Megatron, Garth Knight has painstakingly re-assembled Goliath to once again challenge Michael Knight and KITT.

Filled with awesome bass lines, killer synth hooks and percussion that will bring pure joy to your ears, Garth Knight is back to deliver outstanding tracks that will please even the most discerning listener. Prepare yourself for an incredible journey. Goliath rides again!

Jon Deke - Fap

(Photo: Trisha Lynn by Darren Pineda)

About two weeks ago today, we featured an artist by the name of Jon Deke here and the response has been great. Keeping up with his signature bouncy electro/house style, he has just unleashed a new one to draw palms to called "Fap." I love how this track is constantly building and driving towards a climax. By the time you're sweating from the heavy grinding and ready for the big drop, it just keeps going. Exactly how it should be. Nice one, Deke.

Devil Disco - Gritz

Just a week ago we premiered a sweet jam, "Street Jive" off Devil Disco's latest free Director EP, which is a celebratory release as he recently reached over 10K Facebook fans. That was one of the dopest electric, techno tracks we've come across in what seems like forever. Incredibly creative. Now today, we're taking a closer look at his "Gritz" cut, the second track on the EP. It's mega fun, bouncy, and has all my favorite things like cowbells and open hats, as well as one of the catchiest little samples out right now. Push play below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

Will.I.Am, Britney Spears, Hit Boy, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Wayne, & Diddy's "Scream & Shout" Remix Video + Nikolas Degas Remix

There's not much I can say here. If you listen to popular music even in the slightest, you've heard either will.i.am and Britney's "Scream & Shout" original anthem or the remix with Hit Boy, Waka Flocka, Wayne, and Diddy. Well, just a few hours ago, the video for the latter dropped on i.am's Vevo. It goes well with the track's mass appeal and is a good watch but what I'm more focused on is our boy Nikolas Degas' progressive house mix of the original. After dropping a fantastic remix of Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child," I've been anxious to see what's next for the man. Uploaded just a few days ago, Degas' "Scream & Shout" remix is already swarming the underground music scene. Peep both the aforementioned remixes below.

Renski - Collective

We've got a monster here, courtesy of our new Southern California DJ/producer friend Renski. We've featured his "Serious Business" single here before as it was released on our label-mates Social Security Records. That was one of the coolest moombahton jams we'd heard in a while, so we were anxious to hear more. "Collective," below, is a heavy electro, progressive-house tune that festival-goers and ravers alike will cherish. Go ahead, push play.

Vampire Party - Vampaholic

It's been ages it seems since we last heard from our favorite Spaniards over at Vampire Party. The trio (Daniel Anibal, Aida Groba and Chago Pedreira) have just unleashed their third official single "Vampaholic" and it's currently blowing up overseas. It's time we got it cracking over here. "Vampaholic" is a totally different side from this group, blending elements of moombahton, dubstep, and electro, making it the most eclectic Vampire offering yet. Stream it below, and stay tuned for a set of visuals and release information.

Quince Jone - SawTooth

Just one week ago today, we premiered the first offering of Quince Jone's eponymous debut 7-track EP. "Mind Fuck!" certainly fucked with our heads, so I'm curious what his latest "SawTooth" is going to do... The man, Max Fiedel, says "this is the track that started it all... It was really the first track in my new batch of music...where I thought 'Holy Shit!' The production is out of control." It is indeed an interesting cut from the release. Perhaps more mellow and chilled out than "Mind Fuck!" Stream it below and let us know your thoughts. And as is the rest of the release, this is a solid free download. Enjoy!

Devil Disco - Street Jive

It's been far too long since we've heard from our New York friend Chris Bolarinho, on stage as Devil Disco. To commemorate hitting 10K Facebook fans this month, he has let loose his Director EP for free. The EP contains 3 brand new original takes and an equal amount of remixes. Kicking off the release is "Street Jive," filled with sirens, one of the most electrifying synth leads I've heard since Daft Punk's "Derezzed," and a fast-driving techno beat. Push play below and be sure to pick up the free download. We'll have more from our boy in the coming weeks.

Quince Jone - Mind Fuck!

I first stumbled upon the Los Angeles producer/DJ Quince Jone back in mid-2012 and was immediately digging this dude's style. After a few months of chatting back and forth, discussing his upcoming EP/mixtape, it's finally here in the form of an eponymous 7-track free release. I highly suggest you check out the whole thing, but do not miss the opportunity to hear what is perhaps the lead single, "Mind Fuck!" It's heavily synthesized, a bit majestic, and all around lovely. Stream and download it below, and stay tuned for more from Quince Jone in the following weeks.

Felicity - Phantom of the Dub

About a week ago, we introduced Felicity and his wicked bad "Cough Up The Dough," which received an equally wicked response. We're back with more from the upcoming producer tonight, a dubstep track called "Phantom of the Dub" that won Insomniac's Discovery Project: Escape From Wonderland! contest and earned him a spot at the Wide Awake Art Car Discovery Stage a few months back. It's a very impressive production indeed, a well deserved win in my opinion. Check it out below and be sure to pick up the free download.

Megabass Def - Génome Légende

A little over a week ago we got our first glimpse at the French producer Megabass Def with his fun monologue tune "Dirty French." What we've got from him today takes an entirely route, with a translucent air to it and a catchy hook sample. Check it out below and pick up the free download if you're feeling it.

IHC Presents: OFF/CNTR w/ Jimmy Edgar + Addison Groove + Grenier + Sodapop @ Los Globos 2/2/13 [Upcoming Event + Tickets On-Sale]

Our friends over at IHeartComix have quite the lineup to kick off their first OFF/CNTR 2013 event this Saturday February 22nd. They've rounded up the likes of Jimmy Edgar [Hot Flush|Warp|Berlin] + Addison Groove [50Weapons|Tectonic|UK] + Grenier [Tectonic|Frite Nite] + Sodapop [Anticon] to perform at Los Globos. We've been spinning Jimmy Edgar's recent productions with Machinedrum under the creative alias, Jets, on a handful of recent Dank Radio episodes. For those of you who saw the Disclosure b2b Skream Boiler Room set that was Jets [Jimmy Edgar + Machinedrum] who did the set right before them. Jon Deke - Accro

Ah, yes. Good ol' fashioned bouncy electro/house. Remember the days of Crookers? (I can't believe I just said that.) God I hope you do. Although, if you don't, this will be a treat. If you do indeed, this will put a smile on your face just like it did mine. Hats off to our new friend Jon Deke for reminding us of just how fun electro can be. We'll be hearing more from him soon, but for now let's enjoy the shit out of "Accro," available below to stream and download.

Tiger La - Deadly Rhythm

I'm super excited about this one! Everyone prepare yourselves for Tiger La. We first got a glimpse at her talent when we heard Bobby Green's "Velvet Queen," a track which she provided stellar anthem vocals to. Shortly after premiering that track here, we received a submission from her. My face lit up as I hadn't been able to find much more from her until then. After a few emails and a somewhat tricky international phone call, I got ahold of the Londoner and now I'm happy to introduce her to you all. Tiger La is a name you're going to remember.

We'll be sharing more of her music as we go along but let's start things off with her Lux produced "Deadly Rhythm." She calls it "the fruit of honest, soul-searching writing," and the track alludes to Tiger La's experience as a young dreamer in the big city and the arrogance of her youth. Her lyrics, inspired by scraps of her poetry and daydreams, explore the malaise of a generation and her vulnerability in love.

Check out the stream and pick up the download below. And definitely tell us your thoughts in the comment section at the bottom of the page. Whose voice does hers remind you of? I know my answer to that question, but I'm curious if anyone says the same.

Newham Generals’ Footsie provided support along with Son of Kick and a back-to-back set from SMOG all-stars Kelly Dean and Pawn.

Felicity - Cough Up The Dough

Ah, yes. Who's ready to move their bodies? We got hit with a free album from upcoming producer Felicity a while back and it's about time I got into the hands of the people. The music is a bit different than what I'm usually rocking, but I can definitely get down to. It's tech-y, house-y, and super groovy. Especially "Cough Up The Dough," which we have for you below. It's an awesome free download that comes off his equally free album The Progression of Expression Vol. 1 that you can pick up here. Enjoy it.

Megabass Def - Dirty French

This is one of the most interesting tracks I've received in a long time; I'm totally feeling this dude Megabass Def, a French DJ/producer who clearly gives no fucks and is having a hell of a lot of fun making music. "Dirty French" is the track that immediately caught my attention. He's taken the Wild Cherry classic and chopped it up and turned it into a soundtrack for his album's monologue. We'll be hearing more from him soon, but until then we've got the aforementioned track below. If you're interested in hearing more now, head here.

Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child (Nikolas Degas Remix)

Nikolas Degas, meet everyone. Everyone, meet Nikolas Degas. The French/American Santa Monica native introduced himself to me recently and I'm so glad he did. To be completely honest, I've been so absorbed in these new bassy sounds that I've forgotten how fantastic good ol' electro/house can be. And with guys like Mr. Degas making noises like this, we can be certain electro's here to stay.

What we've got for you here today is his remix of Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child." The original was always fine to me, but it was only just fine. I never felt the energy quite as much as I do when I push play on this version. It's harder hitting and, in my opinion, just a lot more fun. See for yourself below and be sure to pick up the free download.

Focus OC Present: Blond:ish 1/22 [Upcoming Event + Tickets On-Sale]

This Tuesday we are proud to bring you the Orange County debut of Blond:ish [Official | Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud] ! This will be an exclusive So Cal appearance by the duo (Anstacia & Vive-Ann) and we are super excited. In the last few years, Blond:ish has carved out a unique production recipe which focuses on the art of creating music that is organic and multi-dimensional. Provocative basslines contrasted with smooth textures and sticky vocals that blend into a genre of house that rebels against being pigeonholed to any specific category.

Their tracks have been featured on labels like Get Physical, NM2 (Noir Music 2), Mile End, Defected and more. This duo rides off each other's hefty musical knowledge and flawless technique with their diverse personas only adding to the intrigue. Anstascia's unruly demeanor and creative spark spirals against Vivie-Ann's scientific and geek-chic flair in a whirlwind of inspiration and contrast. The result is a force to be reckoned with, a vibe that effortlessly transcends in the studio, behind the booth and more than anything, to the dancefloor.

This will definitely be a big night for us especially since this is the only place in Southern California you can see Blond:ish play [Purchase tickets here]. - Focus OC

Duke Dumont - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix - Future Stars of 2013 [DJ Mix + Tracklist]

Duke Duke Duke Dumont. You can say this Londoner is my favorite producer at the moment. The first track of his I really liked was Thunder Clap. It's one of those 127 bpm high energy ones that at the time was easily blendable to the big room bangers I was spinning more of at that period. As time went on my grooves started slowing down and getting more base line friendly and really focused on soulful vocals. I forgot how I discovered it but I stumbled upon his track Need U (100%) [purchase @ Beatport] and boy oh boy was I hooked. Annie Mac went with the perfect choice for her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix - Future Stars of 2013. He starts of the mix nice and sexxxi and rides it out for a while and then he goes for a brief increase in energy and then brings it back down to sexxxi. There's a lot of groovy dance floor heaters in this mix. Press play, turn it up, and dance away.

Justin Timberlake - Suit & Tie (Feat. Jay-Z) (Prod. Timbaland)

I almost forgot that Justin Timberlake sings. Last time I heard from the dude he was co-staring in that one romantic comedy opposite of Mila Kunis. Looks like JT is back with a little help from his friends. On production duty for Suit & Tie [purchase @ iTunes] is our favorite Timbaland. Jay-Z shares some thoughts and bars of his own on the track. Suit & Tie is the first single from his upcoming full length titled The 20/20 Experience. Just as long as Justin and Timbaland stick to songs, I don't care about them being poppy, with really good hooks and strong melodies they'll be fine. And please no dubstep and trap on the album. We're dead serious about that.

Pioneer DJ - Drew 'Rukes.com' Ressler Interview [Live Interview]

Stumbled upon this interview that Pioneer DJ did w/ Drew Ressler aka Rukes [Official]. No Doubt - Push And Shove on Jimmy Kimmel [Live Video]

No Doubt [Official | Facebook] is one of our personal favorites. They're local. They're fun. They still skank on stage! Did we mention they grew up playing shows w/ Sublime? Their latest album Push and Shove [purchase @ iTunes] has been in the car rotation since it came out and it's title track Push And Show is one of my favorite curve balls to throw on a dance floor. It has all the fun Diplo/Major Lazer elements all rolled into the trademark No Doubt sound. Click below to check out their Jimmy Kimmel performance.

Snowball Music Festival 2013 [Line Up + Upcoming Event + Tickets On Sale]

Modern Disco Ambassadors presents: Justin Jay + Poupon @ LA Cave 1/16 [Upcoming Event + Tickets On-Sale]

I've had the pleasure of seeing Justin Jay [Dirtybird] perform live + performing at MDA's La Cave Wednesdays [Shout out to Kedd Cook]. I can say both have been pleasurable experiences. Expect groovy rhythms and proper four on the floor later on tonight. You may be familiar with Justin Jay's creation titled Femme Fatale. It's one of those tracks that lures you onto the dance floor. Picture seeing one of those fine foxxxy females at your favorite disco grooving and swaying when she looks up at you briefly with that inviting look. She then proceeds to do a "come here" action with her finger. Yes, that is how Femme Fatale works. Pre-sales are available here. Tell 'em I sent you.

SCNTST - Nower Shot

SCNTST [Boysnoize Records] : BNR | Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud

From the mind of Boysnoize Records' youngest representative comes the latest techno fueled dance floor filler. SCNTST is his name and the first track that really stuck out to me was his track Beachboy, with it's repeating, "Ass ass titties. Ass ass titties." Nower Shot maintains this theme of repeating lyrics, inducing it's listener into a trance like dance frenzy. No word on a release date. We'll keep you posted. For now just enjoy the track...

Focus OC Present: Miguel Migs 1/15 [Upcoming Event]

Focus OC | Miguel Migs : Official | Facebook | Tickets
Miguel Migs is a DJ that has received critical and commercial success that most in the deep house community can only dream of. He's been nominated on the Beatport poll as "Best Deep House Producer" and has been a staple of the West Coast's house music scene since the mid 90s. He’d also become a stalwart of the hugely influential Naked Music stable with his singles, remixes and compilations as Petalpusher. His mix CD "Nude Tempo 1" has to be one of the best house music mix CDs ever released and the tracks he's been putting out on his own label, Salted Music, are phenomenal to say the least. To have a man that has done so much for house music at our humble spot is truly an honor. Don't miss this Tuesday it's going to be one incredible night!

Hatcha - Old School Garage Mix 2004 [DJ Mix + Upcoming Event]

We here at Dank Radio like to know our history. Not just of music and where certain vibes have emerged from, but history in general. While many are clamoring and arguing on the direction dubstep has taken in recent year or so, there are many who forget where it comes from. They don't really get it's roots. Like fabricated described in his wrap up of Hatcha's performance at SMOG not too long ago, Hatcha is one to educate. In preparation of his upcoming Fabric set this Friday Jan. 18th at Fabric, Fabric has released an oldie set from him circa 2004. Unfortunately we don't have the track list for it. So you're just going to have to let it ride and enjoy the vibes.

Badklaat & Coffi at Quality Control @ Beyond The Stars Palace 01/04 [Concert Review]

Pickle Productions' Quality Control at Beyond the Stars Palace in Glendale, CA hosted last week the deep, heavy, and dirty sounds of Badklaat, Coffi, Megalodon, Sam XL, and more. With Pure Filth on the sound system, Quality Control was essentially (to me, at least) the dubstep event for those who have been looking for something not too experimental and out there but at the same time, also not too filthy and abrasive.

Hatcha at SMOG Sunday Night Sessions @ Los Globos 12/09 [Concert Review]

Hatcha, one of dubstep’s pioneers responsible for bringing the bass from the club to the airwaves, educated the LA crowd this past Sunday during SMOG’s monthly Sunday Night Sessions at Los Globos in Los Angeles with a selection of tunes that represented the best of yesterday’s and today’s dubstep music. Hogwash and Djunya warmed up the crowd with eclectic selections of bass music that got the crowd’s heads nodding and MC Kemst held it down on the mic for the evening.

Bobby Green ft. Tiger La - Velvet Queen (Single)

Bobby Green is definitely going to be a threat to these hurt DJs and producers in 2013. It's been quite a while since I've seen good ol Wolfgang Gartner live. I think it may have been the first time he released his Medusa set up, I don't remember. All I remember was we partied a bit too hard that night. Any hoo, for those of you who were there to experience his set last November at HARD LA and would like to relive that moment again, and again, you can stream + download his whole set at the link below. I did a quick search through the internet and found the tracklist for you guys/gals as well.

Kaskade vs. Hard Rock Sofa & Swanky Tunes - Surrender Apogee (Kaskade Mash Up) [Free Download]

If it weren't for Kaskade's weekly Monday Music giveaways I wouldn't know what's going on in the world of big room electro bangers. I'll be completely honest with you, I haven't been keeping up at all. Nonetheless, Kaskade provides an excellent service to the music fanatics and crate digging DJs hungry for the latest mashup to serve up in their dj sets. Bon appetit.
