Bobby Green ft. Jocelyn Ellis - Goin' Crazy (Stream + Download)

What to say about a collab like this? Our friend Bobby Green has teamed up with North Carolina native, singer/songwriter Jocelyn Ellis to make this beautiful dance-floor hit. It's punchy, wobbly, and triumphant right before and after its translucent anthem, picking you up and knocking you down... I asked Bobby what this track's all about, and he cool-y answered "It's the NYC scene..." Check it out and pick up this awesome free download.

Ellio - Native Americans (Stream + Download)

Ellio is Leo Son, a 19 year old producer from Boston making some of the sexiest beats without an MC. We're trying to put him on because he damn well deserves it. "Native Americans" is his favorite track off his Trillions tape. About the tape, he says "I tried to create this crazy world through the music and the whole thing really works best when played from beginning to end. I really hope its like nothing the listener has heard before..." I also asked what he wanted people to know about him and his music. To the point, he says "This is only the beginning."

Room8 - Neon And Dice (Stream)

Last week we introduced Room8, Ezra and Nic, and the beautiful lead single off their upcoming album, Transduction. If you missed it, check here. Today we've got another leading track off the album, "Neon and Dice," an instrumental that features Ian Young of M83 on the sax. Group member Ezra says it best: "We love the saxophone and feel it is an instrument which marries very well to synth driven music in painting a vibe and a visual scene..." I couldn't possibly disagree. And if you're digging Ian's sax work on this, you'll be pleased to know he appears on two other tracks on the record as well.

We're as anxious as you are to see this album come to life. So in the meantime, stay tuned to their Facebook and Twitter.

Patrick Baker - Get 2 Know U (Stream + Download)

Like the musical love child of Prince and Madonna, Nashville based Patrick Baker's retro yet timeless songs blend a keen pop sensibility with elements of 80's dance, R&B and rock. At first listen you'll think you're hearing some rare 80's classic that you somehow overlooked. His music hits you in the heart and immediately transports you to an alternate John Hughes-esque universe in 1987 where Deloreans cruise down neon-lit city streets in search of summer love. "Get 2 Know U" is the exuberant free download you need to grab right now, featuring an undeniable chorus and completely authentic saxophone solo.

Hit up Patrick on Facebook and Twitter, and hear his whole collection on SoundCloud.

Le Merchand De Sable - Acid Lake (Von Don Remix) [Stream]

Photo above of Von Don taken at Insomniac Events' "Inception".

Von Don is Alex and Luigi out of Long Beach, CA. You might recognize their names as they are also the guys behind LBCK. This is their sort of alter ego: A tech-house, big room, festival-ready project that's already skyrocketed them to such stages as the one above, EDC Las Vegas, and countless others...

They uploaded this new remix to their SoundCloud a few days ago but have kept it really quiet. Perhaps unfortunately for them, I laid eyes upon it and had to share. Take that, suckers.

(Just kidding guys. Love you.)

Tomasz Betka ft. Lauren Ritchie - You Were My Life (Stream)

Well... Lauren Ritchie has an amazing voice, we know that. When you put her on a fun, upbeat tune such as one from Tomasz Betka, you've got a solid lounge hit, not unlike "You Were My Life" below.

Tomasz's adventure with music started at the tender age of 7, plunking piano keys and singing in the choir. Fast forward two decades and you have a clasically trained Musician, Composer and Producer who is currently jet-setting between Europe and the US, recording new material for a full length album. In addition he writes the music for independent films, commercials and even cabaret. He excels as a solo pianist, although prefers collaborations with vocalists, DJs and other producers. We salute him!

Say hello to Tomasz on Facebook and Twitter, and check out his whole collection on SoundCloud.

Room8 ft. Electric Youth - Visions Of You (Stream)

I'm really, really excited about this one. Ezra and Nic, aka ROOM8, are making some of the most amazing music I've heard since the golden days of EDM circa '07. Think Valerie collective... Remember them? Remember those sounds? The heavily synthesized, poppy, sort of retro, 80s-feeling jams we all found romance in? Well, again, I'm really excited about this one, and here's why.

"Visions Of You" is perhaps the lead single on ROOM8's forthcoming debut album Transduction, featuring Electric Youth (heroes!) who especially mesmerizes with her vocal work here. It's a truly beautiful song that, in my opinion, is kind of about things crashing down around you but having that special someone to keep you going.

I can't wait for Transduction to arrive. I was talking to Ezra on the phone the other day and he mentioned some pretty wicked appearances on the record to me, mainly Martha Davis from The Motels, M83 saxophonist Ian Young, guitar work from Giorgio Moroder arranger and guitar player and famed producer, Richie Zito, mixed with Gavin Mackillop (Human League, General Public, Heaven 17).. Honestly, if this was the mid-1980s, this would be a whole 'nother game. This track would top the charts in a flash.

Talk to ROOM8 on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. And definitely be sure to listen to some more music on SoundCloud.

Breakbot - One Out Of Two (Music Video) + Another Dawn (Stream + Download)

I don't know that this needs any real introduction. Breakbot, the Ed Banger Records funk master, has his debut full-length LP coming out next week and, in preparation, he's been dropping little gems here and there. First thing to check out is his brand new video for "One Out Of Two", below.

He also let loose a free download of his single, "Another Dawn", yesterday via MixMag.

Singularity - Breathe EP (Stream + Download)

Singularity is the young 20-year old San Francisco producer also know as Kyle Trewartha. The music he makes spans a variety of genres including Moombahton, Dubstep, Electro, House, and Glitch-Hop. All done very well with a sort of signature Singularity sound. He released his latest EP, "Breathe", this week in a very cool way, dropping one track Monday, another Tuesday, one yesterday, and the final one today. Here is the release schedule and the tracks, all of which are free downloads...

Breathe (MOOMBAHTON) – Monday
Pulse (DUBSTEP) – Tuesday
Crave (ELECTRO) – Wednesday

DJ Mehdi- R.I.P. [Tribute]

It's been a year since dj Mehdi's tragic passing, and today musicians and fans all around the world will never forget. His passion for music when he is on stage and is smiling and just getting down to the tracks he is playing is something I  will never forget. One of the most memorable moments in my life was Hard nye 2010. When Mehdi took the stage I knew I would never forget this moment because of the energy he puts out in every show and the way he show how much he LOVES music. Down below is a couple of my favorite Mehdi tracks and shows I have attended. Enjoy!

Skrillex & Damian Marley - Make It Bun Dem (Music Video) + After Hours EP (Stream)

I was absolutely blown away by this collaboration when it dropped back in May. And throughout the summer and until now, it doesn't seem to have lost its steam. OWSLA dropped the "After Hours" remix EP last month and now we've got a music video. The video is a lot like other Skrillex videos. You don't really know what's going on, there's a couple sketchy-looking weirdos, and then something crazy and phenomenal happens. See for yourself and then check out the remixes. All good!

#fastforwardfriday Michael Woods - We've Only Just Begun (feat. Ester Dean) (Calyx & Teebee Remix) [Forthcoming]

Feel the smooth vibes on this beautiful remix of Michael Woods' "We've Only Just Begun (feat. Ester Dean)" by UK techstep production duo Calyx & Teebee. These guys seriously know how to flip a track – just listen to their remix of Little Dragon's "Little Man"

The smooth melodic progressive house riffs that ride over the bassline hit the spot for me, and the vocals help make it even better. But my favorite part of this track is the epic bridge with the strings that fade out back into the main riff that goes into the vocal, which then goes into the next drop.

This tune comes out October 21st on Ministry of Sound. Keep an eye out for this one!

Far East Movement ft. Tyga (KDrew Remix)

It's definitely been a good year for KDrew out of New Jersey (this latter part I just learned I think explains most of his promo pics with his shirt off). As a Dubstep producer, he's certainly earned his name with his massive, well-received remixes of Adventure Club, Zedd, and Taryn Manning, to name a few. Yesterday he dropped another huge remix, and this time he's taken on Far East Movement and Tyga's hit "Dirty Bass". Take a listen to the track below and also go behind the scenes of his remixing process.

#throwbackthursdays Rusko - Jahova

This massive anthem was probably THE first dubstep song I ever heard, and probably THE dubstep song that got me hooked to the sound several years ago. And I think that this tune just fits in with the summer vibes and the grimey, humid weather that has been blanketing Southern California the past couple of weeks now.

This had to be the song, at least when I first heard dubstep, that people had to (or at least, should have had to) know. When I first got into dubstep, this song had that whole "If you haven't heard 'Jahova' and you say you listen to dubstep, then you don't listen to dubstep" kind of impact. And I know there's a whole lot of political issues nowadays of what defines "dubstep," but that's for another day. But there's no denying that this song was and still made a huge impact on the dubstep scene today.

Enjoy!

P.S. Rusko, if you ever read this, PLEASE play Jahova at the next gig you have in Southern California. I was bummed that you didn't play it at the Palladium show NOR did you play it at EDC this year :(

Crookers - Bowser (Full EP Stream)

The infamous Italian duo Crookers are back with a brand new EP entitled "Bowser". There's a good range of sounds here. "Trillex" kicks it off with a big, festival-ready boom. And the eponymous "Bowser" brings in the tribal drums and toned out vocal samples. Finally, "Turn The Lights On" is a thugged out hip-house jam featuring some cool rhymes from Philly rapper STS (Sugar Tongue Slim).

Check it out and pick it up on Beatport if you're feeling it.

La Zebra & C Plus - Sunshine On My Mind

Well, seeing as how this is my first post as a Dank Radio tastemaker, I feel it's only right that I sort of showcase some of the things about me.

First and foremost, I am Robbie Metcalf, a California native and music enthusiast. My company HOF (Hall of Fame) throws massive events up here in Northern California, and I am in charge of talent management and the chief in office of our newly-born record label.

This is our first release, an EDM, Hip-Hop collaboration between Long Beach disco king La Zebra and Sactown hero C Plus.

Starting today, I will be posting the best of the underground EDM, Hip-Hop, and Indie scenes here on Dank Radio. I hope you enjoy. And if you don't, please tell me directly via my Twitter, @knezrobi.
