RE:GENERATION | Mark Ronson | Erykah Badu | Mos Def | Trombone Shorty
In short RE:GENERATION is a documentary who's concept is to take certain musical artists and pair them up with other artists of other genres who they may not ever get a chance to work with throughout their career. In this episode we combine Mark Ronson + Erykah Badu + Mos Def with Trombone Shorty + Zigaboo Modeliste + Members of The Dap Kings. I look forward to more clips being released on youtube as the documentary release date nears. I saw Flying Lotus share this video on his Facebook & Twitter today. Ironically, I was already listening to the New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) CD on the way home from school. This is actually one of my favorite songs on the CD and i'm excited to see it come to life. I love the outer-worldly theme Flying Lotus has been working with lately (See Bilal - Levels & Flying Lotus - Mmmhmm). Also, notice the Ankh that appears throughout the video, how many can you find?

[via] Not too long ago Flying Lotus was tweeting about working on a video with Bilal, Thundercat, and Erykah Badu but I really didn't know what to expect. Well VTech premiered Bilal's music video for Levels this morning and after watching it a few times I can't wait to share with you all this visually stunning piece of art. Here's what FlyLo has to say about the video...

“I originally wanted to keep visual themes with another video from my last LP called ‘mmhmm’ off of my last album. It featured Thundercat as an intergalactic bass player in a super strange world created by ‘Special Problems’. Since Thundercat was part of this song, I thought it could be fun to continue the visual style and feel of this space opera. In the end you have this crazy video made of so much mixed media, geek dreams and lots of love.”
