Dank Radio Update

Greetings World. Hope all is well. On behalf of Dank Radio I would like to apologize for the lack of updates. We are currently undergoing some maintenance, both in the digital world and in the real world. I'm experimenting with some layout changes with the website so we can further expose musical gems. Everyone is individually working on their craft(s) and digging the crates for the freshest music to share. We are also recovering from Coachella and gearing up for another run of dope music - at the same time. We have a lot of fun things lined up for the upcoming months for both the radio waves and the interweb. Thank you all for your continuous love and support. As a token of our appreciation, we would like to invite everyone (especially those of you in the LA area) to join us for an epic night of music featuring our very own Nativity and Fabricated, plus a special live set from the best musicians in town (Full Line Up on Flyer Blow). There will be an art gallery, as well as live painting and graffiti. Did I mention its all FREE!? If you're into inspiring art, good vibrations, jamming tunes, and/or booming bass, then I suggest you come out next friday and be a part of history. Click the flyer for more info.

HARD presents: Joy Orbison, Pearson Sound/Ramadanman [Concert Review]

HARD presents: Joy Orbison | Pearson Sound/Ramadanman | Annie Mac | Flinch @ The Roxy

Early on sometime mid afternoon I receive a text message saying "You won! :)". Confused as to what I won and who this was from I responded with "What did I win?! And who is this?!" It turns out I won tickets for myself and four of my friends courtesy of The Drop Factory to that night's event at The Roxy presented by Hard. Joy Orbison was playing that night and Hyph Mngo was a constant in my rotation along with his remix of Four Tet's Love Cry. So I did what any other person recovering from Post-Coachella sickness would do, I rounded up some fun musically hungry people and headed up to Hollywood.

As we approached the Will Call and Guestlist area my name was no where to be found and no tickets were left for me as instructed. A bit confused I made them triple check my ID to both lists and still no luck. After 20+ calls straight to a voicemail and a handful of text messages we were out of luck. fabricated, [e]ccentric, D$, Ms. Alaijsha, and I made the drive all the way out there and we weren't going home empty handed. So again I did what anyone Post-Coachella, still hungry for more music, with a week off from work, who extremely detests my cubicle day job but is putting up with it because it's a source of income would do, buy 5 tickets for him and 4 of his friends[Total was $150 if you were wondering]. From here on out fabricated will take over the review as I was a bit infuriated at the situation and medicated the situation with a bit too much whiskey and thus was unable to take proper notes that night...

Tommie Sunshine - Spring Sprung DJ Mix

Tommie Sunshine : Facebook | Twitter | Soundcloud

Apologies for the lack of updates everyone. March Madness really kicked my a$$. I really need three of me to get everything done. Any hoo, enough of my complaining. Back to the music. Here's a mix that's going to help me get through tonight's "burning the midnight oil" session. Lots of gems in this mix. Here's what Sir Tommie Sunshine had to say about his latest mix:
Since the radio is full of mainstream dance music right now, I decided to pull things WAY underground for this mix. The world is operating at a fever-pitch and this is the soundtrack of you closing your eyes on a Saturday night and cutting the cords that hold you to this Earth. This is straight up, psychedelic dance music that is intended to cause a state of disconnection with the real world and its made with ultimate love. Do whatever it is that takes you to that place and turn this the fuck up and play it LOUD!

Stones Throw Records 15 Anniversary Show

Stones Throw: Official | Facebook | Twitter

Stones Throw will be having a VERY special show tonight in celebration of their 15th year serving us the best tunes and the most raw talent. Mayer Hawthorne & The County + jazz group Rick (featuring Sam Gendel of Teen Inc) will be performing 15 minute sets that will be recorded and pressed straight to vinyl LP in real time. And of course no Stones Throw event would be complete without founder Peanut Butter Wolf getting behind the decks. Los Angeles, be apart of history and check this event out!

Infrasonics - Volume 11

I know I've been kind of behind with the Infrasonics posts, and I apologize, but nonetheless, here's a new installment of it. And also, be sure to listen to and download the most recent Dank Radio broadcast "Coa-Chillin'"; there's a lot of good tunes on there for when you feel like...well...chillin'.
