Paving The Way To Paid Dues 2012 - Self Scientific [Music Video + Tickets On-Sale]

Self Scientific: Bandcamp.
Chace Infinite: Official. Twitter. DJ Khalil: Official. Twitter.

Salute, Salutary, Salutations, Welcome to the 6th Edition of our series; Paving The Way to Paid Dues. For this edition we highlight artists who are the testament that, Good Things are Always Worth the Wait. The DJ and MCee Duo of Self Scientific have been grinding in the game since the 90's and to this day still persevere to be one of the hallmarks of underground hip hop heads everywhere. As stated in my previous posts, music, hip hop will forever be an evolutionary thing, where it will change and move with the time however Self-Scientific has always produced work from the Glory Days of progressive hip hop. I don't mean hip hop joints that have electro or house infused into them, I'm talking about the grimey, gritty, passion filled hip hop that was birthed in the late 80's early 90's and fought it's way to come up. Unlike most DJ and MCee duo's, both DJ Khlil and Chace Infinite have equal and even representation on their work, both entities combine to make music that both hits hard lyrically and musically, a delicate balance that many DJ's and MCee's have yet to master. Throughout the years Self Scientific has successfully fought against the mainstream, and have continued to make music for the people and not for the simple pursuit of the almighty dollar. Even in the work they have produced previously Infinite has always mentioned the dissolution of Hip Hop culture through monetary gain.

Paving The Way to Paid Dues 2012 - K.Flay [Music Video + Tickets On-Sale]

Greetings from The BAY AREA! In honor of my spring break spent up here I'd like to welcome you all to our 5th edition of Paving the Way to Paid Dues. For this edition of Paving the Way to Paid Dues we're going to switch it up a bit, we feature our first young woman in our series stationed in the Bay Area, Ms. Kristine Flaherty, more popularly known as K.Flay. You may have heard esoteric voice floating around on youtube or even on stage with some of the most iconic artists of the Hip Hop game such as Ludacris and Snoop Dogg. A one man act K.Flay has written and produced her own work as well as rap and play her guitar. An Illinois native and the proud owner of a double degree from Stanford University in California, no one including herself, anticipated her to fall into music. It was sort of a whim, what started off as her just writing lyrics for a friend down the hall has acclimated into a melding of music that speaks to her unique experience. Some may argue that she is strictly indie dipping into hip hop, or just an electric artist riding the trend wave, but her journey and music is not to be misconstrued as a passing phase. During her years in the Bay Area she became enthralled with Bay Area rap artist E-40 and dabbled around throwing versus out amongst friends, but it was in that exact creative outlet that K.Flay was able to infuse her musical influences of funk, soul, indie, electric and of course her new found fascination with the distinct hip hop sound of the Bay Area, and create eclectic music.

Paving The Way to Paid Dues 2012 - TayF3rd [Music Video + Tickets On-Sale]

Welcome to the 3rd edition of Paving the Way to Paid Dues. Aptly enough for our third edition we feature TayF3rd. A Long Beach native, it looks like Long Beach has once again cultivated another talented artist. Formerly a heavy jerkin rapper, TayF3rd proves to have evolved into a bigger and badder entity in the hip hop game. Ask anyone who’s got their ears to the streets, TayF3rd holds it down for Eastside Long Beach, if you don't believe me, listen to his mix tapes entitled "Sand Box" and "I Am Long Beach," that will put all qualms to rest. Perceivably charismatic and possessing an insatiable hunger for life, living and thriving. Despite his long hair TayF3rd is both an artist and a business man with an aptitude for the streets. His music and work reflect nothing less than his mastery of both attributes. TayF3rd continues to make music with an undeniable west coast feel. Not to be mistaken with those who came before TayF3rd is an entity all his own. Despite his large following TayF3rd continues to be an allusive rapper whose hard hitting and entrancing music will soon put an end to his anonymity. Throwing on any of his tracks, it becomes difficult to not turn it up and have a good time hitting the hustle or stepping' out. A couple of TayF3rd tracks that need to be give a listen are, "On My Shit," "Mailman Mailman," and "Conceited," Currently TayF3rd is putting in work and making more magic in the studio. Needless to say his new work is much anticipated and with his upcoming performance at Paid Dues 2012 his success will only multiply like the racks he's after. TayF3rd, keep putting on for your city because you've got Strong Beach; the Sand Box standing behind you.

Paving The Way To Paid Dues 2012: Moe Green [Album Stream]

Moe Green: Music. Soundcloud. Twitter. Tumblr. YouTube.

Welcome to the Second Edition of Paving The Way to Paid Dues. For our second edition we highlight a dreamer from the Bay Area; Moe Green. "Unassuming" would be the word for this particular Rapper. Hailing from the bankrupt city of Vallejo California, rapper Moe Green proves to possess the integral attributes to achieve success in his own right. Moe Green aptly referred to as "Moe The Dreamer" hustles to bring his dreams into fruition. Devoid of hype, Moe Green made heads turn and ears perk up with his previous albums "I Just Want You to Hear My Voice" in 2009, "Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match" album in 2010. And in true pursuit of his dreams, He has dropped yet another EP entitled, "Lionheart" just last year. His evolution as an artist and progression as a human being emanates through his music. However, throughout his career as an artist and the all important transformations along that journey, he sustains one thing; himself.
