SMOG Presents: Von D @ SMOG Sundays 6/10/12 [Concert Review]

French bass music producer Von D was in town for his first LA appearance, and let me tell you, I was pumped that he was going to be at SMOG Sundays. Even though he came on a weekend that a good amount of the LA crowd was in Las Vegas for EDC, that didn't bother me ‘cause that meant more room and bass for me. Von D is underrated with his style – he brings that "sexy" form of bass music with female vocals while also bringing in that dark and deep bass. I use the word “sexy” because of his track "Show Me" – just take a listen to his latest LP "Daydreaming," and you will understand.

Battles - Futura [Live Video + Tour Dates]

Here goes part two of La Blogotheque's Take Away Show with Battles [Part 1 here]. Below you will find the three piece take you through the sonic ride of Futura. I'm only halfway with their brand new release Gloss Drop [purchase @ Official | iTunes | Best Buy | Bleep] because I keep repeating each track over and over and again. The sure amount of musical sounds created by just three individuals is astounding. If you're lucky enough to be in one of the towns they'll be touring in this year I highly suggest you see them perform live. If you're living in a place not so lucky to have them perform, you'll just have to listen to their album on repeat until they finally make their way around to your town.

Absolutely enjoy the Take Away Show series by La Blogotheque. It's one of those "I always wanted to do that!" kind of moments whenever I watch these videos. This installment features Brooklyn NY's Battles from Warp Records. Their upcoming release titled Gloss Drops will be out on June 6/7th [Pre order @ Bleep|Amazon]. Unfortunately I don't understand French so I don't know what the statement below says, but I'm sure it's a brief description of what happened in Paris when they shot the video. Salutations to our readers/listeners in France...

Local Natives - Who Knows Who Cares [Live Video]

Local Natives : Official | Facebook | Twitter | Releases
Just spent the last hour or so watching live videos from La Blogotheque's vimeo page. Awesome concept. Simple and effective. The beauty of their videos is that it strips down our favorite songs down to it's core roots. For most compositions this can be just a simple guitar and vocals, and sometimes it's just vocals and some snaps and claps for percussion. Either way it's music, it's in Paris, it's live music in Paris.
