Good Foot Christmas 2012 @ Alex's Bar 12/25/12 [Live Video]

A Good Foot Christmas 2012 @ Alex's Bar 12/25/12 | Video by: Magic Milk

I watch quite a bit of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations + The Layover and wonder at times where I'd take Anthony in Long Beach to get drunk and have a good time. He always seems to end up at random cities on "holidays" so I figure if he were in Long Beach on Christmas night I'd take him to Good Foot Christmas. For the non-locals and non-versed in LA Funk events, Good Foot was a 13(?) year running monthly here in Long Beach at Que Sera that was put on by Dennis Owens of Free Moral Agents. To my knowledge it was the longest running party in Long Beach. They started it back in the day before the internet and social media so it was quite a bit of work to get 100 to 200 plus people dancing to the best .45 vinyl selections of Funk music in a grimmey dive bar in Long Beach. The monthly may have closed shop, but Dennis brings back the event for select celebrations, such as Christmas. It's one of those Cheers moments when all the locals come out and just drink, dance, frolic, and fornicate. Eccentric met another local and she sent us this video they created. See you next Christmas on the dance floor...

Met Mitchell – En Route (Stream + Download)

Ah... Met Mitchell, your music is a gift to us all. Everyone, if this is the first time you're coming across this guy, get ready for some cool ass shit. "En Route" is like taking a ride through space. Or maybe a different dimension you can't understand. Does that make sense? Seriously though. You don't even have to be high for this to trip the fuck out. Push play below and hop aboard this vintage synth-driven electronic ship.

Oh and if you haven't heard his Thieves Like Us remix, go here. Omg.

ARESS – Wired (Single)

Last week we featured EDM newcomer ARESS and his "Get Free" remix that took us by surprise. We're back another one from the man today, an original titled "Wired" that's very deep and a bit erotic. This one comes off his forthcoming EP and is available as a free download for now. Check it out below and be sure to pick up that download before it's gone.

Eluusif – I Need An Alien Tonight (Stream + Download)

Over the course of the past few weeks, we've been premiering tracks off Eluusif's 'Aliens Do It Better' EP. Today we have the final cut off the record, "I Need An Alien Tonight," a fully torqued electro-house jam that tells the story of an android in need of an alien. We've definitely saved the best for last. Enjoy the track below and be sure to pick up that free download before it's gone.

Thieves Like Us – Stay Blue (Met Mitchell Remix)

Met Mitchell, it's a true pleasure to have come across your work. Every once in a while, an artist like this will come around and remind us of why we fell in love with EDM in the first place... Here we have a remix of Thieves Like Us' "Stay Blue," a feat in itself, but retro synth-fitted to electronic perfection. It's a beautiful remix that anyone could cherish, but most especially will those who found their love for dance music in the earlier days of the genre. Enjoy this below and be sure to pick up the free download.

Bobby Green ft. Jacquelyn Willard – Don’t You Wanna (Stream)

Bobby Green never ceases to amaze us with his range of creativity. One day, he'll drop a heavy electro-house tune like "Goin' Crazy," the next he'll deliver a beautiful big-room anthem like "Barely Breathing," and then out of nowhere he'll give us a super fun, poppy, electric guitar-driven tune like "Don't You Wanna" as he did today. Fans of Bobby Green know they can pretty much always rely on a well-rounded song, fully equipped with vocals and a purpose. "Don't You Wanna" is a song about love, but it's not necessarily a love song. It's about taking a risk with someone, even if you know better or your instincts tell you not to. Without digging too much into it, we'll leave you with the track below. One day this kid's gonna sign to the big leagues, and we'll reminisce on the days of these amazing singles. So be a part of it all now.

Eluusif – You Should Be Mine (Stream + Download)

By now we're pretty familiar with Eluusif, the Las Vegas resident that's pumped out hits like "Justin Bieber Is An Android" and "No I Don't Wanna Be Your Facebook Friend." We've got another one off his 'Aliens Do It Better' EP today and it's a bit different than what we've come accustomed to, mostly because it incorporates beautiful vocals from some mystery female singer. Check it out below, and if we ever learn more about the man and his many secrets, we'll let you know.

Major Lazer ft. Amber (of Dirty Projectors) - Get Free (ARESS Edit)

Our new friend ARESS from Australia has taken the now hugely popular "Get Free" and given it a bit more of an upbeat feel. Our favorite elements of the original are still intact, but some heavy synthesized sounds and a thumping one-two has been added to perhaps serve a different purpose on the dancefloor. Grab it below and be on the lookout for more from ARESS here soon.

Chestplate US Tour [Distance, Tunnidge, District] at SMOG Sunday Night Sessions @ Los Globos 11/18 [Concert Review]

The Chestplate sound took over the SMOG Sunday Night Sessions at Los Globos in Los Angeles on November 18th, filling the dimly lit and crowded club with the dark and twisted basslines that Chestplate has become notorious for. The cold, dark November evening set the tone and mood for the whole night, reflecting the cold, dark vibes of the Chestplate sound.

Bobby Green ft. Jocelyn Ellis & John Conroy – Barely Breathing (Stream + Download)

There's no better way to describe "Barely Breathing" than ecstatic big room house... That's exactly what this is, and Bobby Green does it just as good as the big boys. I want to draw comparisons to Kaskade, Deadmau5, Above and Beyond and such, but that simply wouldn't be fair. This is something special all on its own. "Barely Breathing" kicks off with a triumphant one-two and quickly moves us around with a bouncy-bass and a lo-fi synth before crashing down with one of the most beautiful leads we've heard in a long time. Jocelyn and John bring their vocals aboard at this point and you couldn't possibly miss the feeling. When the song ends, you're not ready for it to... And that is something only a handful of producers can do.

Bravo, Bobby. Bravo!

Fourmi – Glottal Stop (Album Stream + Download)

It's been a while since we've heard from Fourmi, the Parisian man that constantly reminds of Oizo with his intelligent and often peculiar noises. I got an email from him the other day that informed me that his Glottal Stop LP is now available to stream and download. Check it out below, and lookout for his forthcoming EP due out early 2013.

Eluusif - No I Don't Wanna Be Your Facebook Friend (Stream + Download)

A little over a week ago we introduced the mysterious Eluusif (which I imagine is pronounced "illusi-f") and his massive "Justin Bieber Is An Android." Today we've got another track off his 'Aliens Do It Better' EP, a real monster titled, "No I Don't Wanna Be Your Facebook Friend," which is just as cool as rejecting a friend request.

Dirtybird Presents: Stuff The Bird w/ Claude VonStroke + Justin Jay @ AV Nightclub [Upcoming Event + Free Concert]

In a previous interview the head bird of Dirtybird Records, Mr. Claude VonStroke, stated that since his recent move down here to Los Ageles he hoped to start doing LA parties. I was wondering when he would. Well wonder no more. It's quite fitting to throw a FREE RSVP ( w/ food donation of course! ) Dirtybird party the week of Turkey Day. Get it? Ok, I'll stop. You'd be a fool to pass this up. Sure he just did a local show at Control Avalon not too long ago [Review will be up shortly]. But come on, I know you guys and gals want to work up a sweat before stuffing your face w/ all types of cooked flying mammals. Don't forget to bring your canned food donation!

TJH87 - Break Away Kicks! (EP Preview)

It's such a breath of fresh air to know that there are still artists out there that can make great dance music like this. Our hats go off to Timo Juuti and Hector 87, the Finnish duo formally known as TJH87. The 'Break Away Kicks!' EP presents five high energy tracks resembling electro pioneers such as Daft Punk and Justice... And we don't just drop comparisons like that for anyone. One listen to the original mix and any true EDM enthusiast will instantly respect the originality and sheer beauty of TJH87's production.

We've got an instant classic here, so be sure to tune in and pick up the release when it's out on the 26th of this month via La Valigetta.

Eluusif – Justin Bieber Is An Android (Stream + Download)

I'd like everyone to give Eluusif a warm welcome, and prepare your heads and bodies for some very strange movements. Your ears are about to hear some things I don't think they were ever meant to... But this is a good thing.

Eluusif comes from Eluusia on EDM Prime and is a music producer who currently resides in Las Vegas near Groom Lake at Edwards Air Force Base better known as Area 51... He's one of the few classically trained musicians left that's close mates with President Obama. But enough about him. It's time you heard his music.

"Justin Bieber is an Android" is the first track off his 'Aliens Do It Better' EP that we'll be featuring over the course of this month. Buckle up, my friends. We're in for one hell of a ride.

Chris Brown – Don’t Wake Me Up (Jeff Sontag Remix) [Stream + Download]

Our boy Jeff Sontag has been turning out tunes like a madman as of late, and we're happy to be on the receiving end. First he hit us with his blazing original, "Loose Wiring," before surprising us with a remix of Eminem's "'Till I Collapse." Now, we've got a sick twist on Chris Brown's "Don't Wake Me Up." Grab it quick.

Eminem ft. Nate Dogg – ‘Till I Collapse (Jeff Sontag Remix) [Stream + Download]

The dude Jeff Sontag out of Los Angeles is one talented motherfucker. He produces, sings and raps hard as we heard on "Loose Wiring." On this not-so-fair Thursday, we've got a little treat that takes us back to '02 when Eminem was just becoming a household name. Jeff takes Em's "'Till I Collapse" and gives it a little bit of funk and glitch. It's pretty dope. Go on and peep. That final build/drop is where it's at.

Goldenvoice & La Nuit Present: Disclosure + Samo Sound Boy @ El Rey Theatre 10/31/12 [Concert Review + Tour Dates]

For about a year or so we've been supporting the brothers Disclosure. We've spun their tracks on Dank Radio + blogged about their tours & releases. Basically spread the word about their amazing music to anyone who would listen. It was only a matter of time before they made their way across the pond to spread their sexxxi UK Garage // Deep House sounds to the Los Angeles region. My brother Eccentric and I secured access to their sold out show [Many thanks to Jay + the whole Disclosure team for their hospitality] and made our way up to LA on Halloween.

Kode9 - SMOG Sunday Night Sessions @ Los Globos 09/16 [Concert Review]

Kode9 on the decks – Photo credit: Regal D

Hyperdub head honcho Kode9 played to a very eager and crowded Los Globos on September 16th for SMOG's monthly Sunday Night Sessions. The man responsible for the success of many artists (i.e. Zomby and Burial) came out to LA to play out a very eclectic selection of bass music across a wide variety of bass music genres/subgenres and tempos.

Fourmi - Jean Carpentier VHS (Music Video)

We introduced Fourmi and his crazy "Fuckcentrique" track off his Glottal Stop LP a little over a week ago. The French sounds were almost too much to handle, but we were thrilled by the creativity. It was like hearing some Oizo shit for the first time...

I had to get this in. It's the official animated music video for another high-energy track off Glottal Stop called "Jean Carpentier VHS." Enjoy it. And we'll keep you posted if more of this comes about.

Blunt B - Fried (EP) [Stream + Download]

We have a very strong EDM release here from the homie Blunt B. He's the Toowoomba native that pumped out hits like "Vacuum Sealed Funk" and "Get Off The Chemicals" earlier this year. Fried is the debut three-track EP from Blunt B and it's set to kick up a storm, talked as being one of the biggest underground electronic releases of the year. We'll back that notion by all means. For a limited time, it's being offered as a free download. After that, fans can score it here. Don't miss out on this. It's easily one of the funkiest, glitchiest, and all around best ways to get fucked up by noise. You're gonna love it. We promise.

Cut & Slice - Rippin' (Stream)

Cut & Slice, as some of you may know, is easily one of the biggest electro-house EDM names coming out of Helsinki, Finland. When we first heard his triumphant "Complex'd" earlier this summer, it was game on immediately. We simply could not wait to hear what more the man, Mikael Karpinnen, had in store.

Today we are more than pleased to witness his latest see the light of day. Out today on Plasmapool Media Entertaiment, "Rippin'" combines strong chordal elements, captivating leads and the signature glitchy Cut & Slice sound. This one's a solid heater, perfect for hopping on that ass upon the dancefloor. Get it!

Fourmi - Fuckcentrique (Stream)

Fourmi is a 23 year old French/British producer coming out of Paris. "Fuckcentrique" is the second track off his self-released debut LP Glottal Stop, and it's the one that caught my attention. He says, "From a producer's point of view it is relatively simple as it was recorded on only four tracks (2 samplers + 2 synths). I think I made 90% of the track in one inspired afternoon, excluding the intro. I would describe it as the pathetic cry of a dying synthesizer trying to make sense but doesn't. It is a nonsensical EDM track." I'm down with it. Reminds me a bit of Oizo. Check it.

The OG Dirtybirds are back in Los Angeles! I've been fortunate enough to have experienced both of these fine and funny artists a couple of times this past year. Always with smiles on their faces and enough bass to more our asses, I guaranDAMNtee that you'll be making your booty clap all night long this Friday. If you're not into the booty clapping thing that's fine, I'm sure they'll be having you do all sorts of push up push down dances that'll make even the prettiest birds sing to you "Don't Go" or better yet, "Lezgo!" I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a drum & bass track or two and at the very least JM better bust out his Goldie edit of Kemistry. If you've been paying attention to the more recent Dank Radio editions as well as some of my live mixes you've noticed an increase of the Dirtybirds over time. We seriously can't wait for this show. See you on the dance floor! Purchase your tickets for Control HERE.

Rekstarr - Let It Be (Stream + Download)

Rekstarr started out as a hip-hop producer. He used to bump burnt CDs full of his beats on those endless days waiting at the bus stop, shop class, mackin’ (and failing) some dime ass bitches in between classes, etc... Being raised on that real hip hop -- Dilated Peoples, DJ Premier, etc. -- Rek’s instrumentals had that raw New York flavor everyone loves.

While he still produces that raw hip hop shit, Rek’s influences and surroundings have made him venture musically. His cycle is now complete. Rekstarr has the ability to sound great in whatever genre he touches. “It’s not even about the genre, I never want to feel restricted. It’s about sitting down and making whatever the hell you like and feel like making at the time,” he says. And a few years ago, he ventured into house.

I was tired of getting fucked over by the industry. I just wanted to share my music with those out there who appreciate great music and reach out for their love. What better way to do that than with a free album?Revolved is all original beats using just Beatles samples. The album is a journey, from the introduction to the very end. Take one track out and it’s like taking out a scene from a blockbuster. Don’t be afraid to press play and just late it take you. Revolved is one hell of an album. Jam out and show some respect to my boy.

Download Revolver through DatPiff here. And be sure to stop by Rek's Facebook for more.

Jeff Sontag - Loose Wiring (Stream + Download)

Jeff Sontag, where the hell did you come from?

The man comes out of Los Angeles, producing and writing big electronic sounds, and singing and spitting over them with his strong, often angst-driven voice. It's good to hear a talent like this. It's rare!

"Loose Wiring" is the defining track. Think the energy of Skrillex mixed with the lyricism of Eminem all tied together with the melodic touch of a seasoned songwriter like John Mayer... That’s Jeff Sontag. "Loose Wiring" starts off heavy, transitions into a hard hip/hop beat, and quickly builds to an arena electro-house anthem. His style has never been heard before and yet rings accessible to any listener upon first play. This is brand new. You are hearing the first breath of "electro singer/songwriter" as a genre.

The Morose Project - Overcoat Battalion (Stream + Download)

The Morose Project is a live electronic act formed in early 2010 by Samuel Barba & Tarek Nasr. Morose intends to give birth to a new sound and experience, by combining live instrumentation with an electronic minimalist structure. According to Tarek, this track "'Overcoat Battalion' reflects a brief point in time when life seems to stand still; right before a life changing event. In this case, the day before a major battle. Its about the raw emotions that you feel right when something big is going to happen and you not knowing the certainty of the outcome. That feeling in the pit of your stomach when you are certain that your life will change after the event." Can't wait to catch these dudes live!

Boy Manik - His Name Was Lahoony (Stream + Download)

Our boy Zach aka Boy Manik dropped off some new tunes for us this weekend and here is the delivery. "His Name Was Lahoony" is the biggest shit I've heard from him yet. He's definitely on the way. I can't wait to see what's in store for him.

Daft Punk - Technologic (Matiz Remix) [Stream + Download]

Matiz is back with a strong remix of Daft Punk's classic "Technologic." It's got a cool industrial, dirty electro sound, but also a pretty melodic piano build-up before falling down in the dirt again. It's definitely a fun little take on the anthem, so pick it up now as a free download.

Natanael – Ants Kingdome Comes (Stream)

Natanael hit us up a week or two ago with an interesting cross genre track blending dubstep and electronic. It's cool stuff. I started talking to him a bit and about his project he says, "'Ants Kingdom Comes' started in my mind after i was invaded by ants. I didn't find anything to stop the ants from taking control of my apartment. The feeling in the songs are a bit stressed and dark could have something to do with the situation." This totally sucks, but on the bright side it brought about a track like this.

Worship - Forever Orion (Stream)

Worship spent most of his teenage years in his parents' basement playing with old synthesizers. As he was way ahead of his time back then, he forgot all about them synths throughout his college years... Until he discovered Kavinsky and the greatness of Valerie which brought him straight back to his first love, ending up with The Dome, a compilation of three wonderful handcrafted epic synth anthems. Two EPs followed, Out There and Horizon including remixes signed by artists like Justin Faust, The Phantom's Revenge, Steve Moore and Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver.

What we have for you here today, is "Forever Orion," which is a leak off Close Encounter, his third EP. We'll have that for you in a few weeks.

Televisor ft. Patrick Baker - Run Away (Stream)

We first heard about Patrick Baker via the beautiful "Get 2 Know U." Now we've discovered more. After completing a remix of "Get 2 Know U," Televisor and Patrick had to get together for a collaboration. And we are very glad they did. "Run Away" is a combination of Televisor's funky and infectious, vintage-meets-modern music production and Patrick's keen melodic sensibilities. The single drops November 5th on Kiez Beats with a Beatport pre-release on the 22nd of this month. Look out for it.

Live Broadcast - OCTO feat. DLX (10.06.12)
